I have been unable to access the appleinsider forums or appleinsider itself for the past few days. Has the site bit the dust completely or is it in one of its usual funks for awhile?.................................

It's working fine. Just use this address:
http://forums.appleinsider.com
Don't use the 'www' address. There's a DNS problem with that. I don't know why.
BTW, we'll be switching over to vB in the *very* near future. That should resolve the problems UBB has been puking up on lately.

Thanks, I'll give it a try, Shouldn't they have left a notice of the change while trying to access the old way? How will people know?............

Just wondering. Whats AI got that we MacNN don't?
From what I seen it's a simmiler thing with a worse design.
(I am gonna get flamed I know it)

I never understood that either, AI is basically just a smaller version of MacNN, I used to go to AI until I realized that.

Design differences aside, the similarity is that both are Mac users forums. But a forum is really only the people who use it. It's a community. Saying they're the same (MacNN and AI) is like saying Phoenix and New York are the same, just different weather. Different people, different attitudes, different atmosphere. I always thought AI concentrated more on future hardware and software. The members of AI are a bit more "aggressive" with their opinions. Of course we at ManNN have the advantage of Ca$h posting here. Take that, AI!

AI's a nice, simple community unlike MacNN. Also, there are way too many forums here.

I like AI, although I'm not a regular over there. It's a nice change of pace. It has more of a literate vibe (owing partly to the presence of the estimable Mr. Scates), and the Future Hardware forum is good for some entertainment value. Plus, unlike MacNN, there aren't 10 people waiting to flame you if you post something sports-related.
When I need to feed my inner technogeek, though, I go to Ars Technica Mac Ach.

Actually, AppleInsider seems to attracts a more knowledgeable crowd. Maybe it's just because it's smaller, but AI also tends to have much fewer trolls, morons, n00bs, and general jackasses. Maybe that's in part because the mods don't let people **** until they start slinging insults around like I've seen happen on occasion here at MacNN.
With 2900 posts there and 2200 posts here, I certainly have seen most sides of both communities. I prefer AppleInsider.
