hi there,

i had firewalkx and brickhouse installed on one of my machines.
after installing 10.2 the build in firewall prompts me to disable the firewall software.
i have done all kinds of searches including trashing stuff as root user in the main library.
i still get the prompt?!
did i miss a file and where could it be?
apple should give a prompt during the install for default settings if these kind of problems occur. thanks for responding promptly.

brickhouse shouldnt make any troubles, since its only configuring the internal firewall.
i havent used firewalkx, but you might want to check out your /System/Library/StartupItems folder, maybe you can find something in there which looks like a leftover from a previous firewalkx-installation.

Yes Brickwall could be the culprit. It changes the internal firewall so the firewall is active and therefor you get the message in the sharing preferences. Don't know how brickwall works but check for any file that might belong to brickwall in /Library/StartupItems/ or in ~/Library/StartupItems/. If you find it try to remove it, logout and then back in or restart the computer.

Problem is that the ipfw configured by Brickhouse allows to differenciate between interfaces. I can thus allow FTP between machines on my Ethernet but prohibit FTP access comming from AirPort to my machine.

BTW, Brickhouse creates a Firewall directory in StartupItems. From there it calls ipfw passing it another file it created: /etc/firewallSOMETHING. Now the version of ipfw in JAg does not liek the script Brickhouse has created. :-(
