That's just it. They didn't. They just came up some super-duper lame dramatic workaround so they could say they killed off someone even though they didn't. They may as well just claim that all of last season was just a dream.

Episode 3 has been the best for me sofar - I just watched episode 4 and it left me thinking what was the point of all that? The end was perhaps the best bit of the whole episode.

This season is redeeming the series quite well so far, IMO.
Killing Ando in that fashion is a really bold decision for the show, unless Hiro chickens out and goes back to stop himself later. Claire has interesting things to do now, and I like Robert Forester as Father Patrelli. His power must be immense to do what he's been show to do. Gabriel's new direction is being depicted well.

Yeah, that's Parkman's father (unless I'm wrong). But you saw Angela's dream, right?

Yes, but I don't know that it represented exactly what his power was. I mean, we already have an invincible Sylar, Claire and Peter, and Sylar and pete can "do anything" -- so I don't know how much more WOW he could be.

Wow enough to pwn Peter. Sylar and Peter aren't even all that invincible. They can still be pretty easily knocked out, and then taking out the back of their skulls isn't all that hard.

Looking forward to the big reset button in the last episode of the season that makes bad future go away.
And then going though the same thing again next year.

I approve of this season. It's very comic-like. The lines and plot twists are exactly something I'd expect in a Marvel comic.
Some people like self-obsessed allegories on banal philosophy such as BSG. I like classic, non-serious, non-pretentious good old comics.

Hiro killing his friend made me roll my eyes... Suresh and his lifestyle change is slightly interesting... They should just call the show "The Petrelli's ft. Hiro

How can Sylar not use his super hearing when HRG tried to kill him with Mr. Vortex?

Sylar mentioned in the car after the incident that Noah tried to get him killed. Not sure if he inferred it or used his super hearing and the show didn't clue in the viewer.

I think Sylar heard the conversation, but he is able to read minds to a certain extent. But Sylar is trying to chance, and he's trying to understand people. I think Sylar was trying to read the mind of the vortex guy and had the feeling the vortex guy wouldn't do it. I guess he took the chance believing the chance was on his favor. You could see Sylar agitating and trying to figure out what the 3 were thinking and saying.
Hey, Sylar is a complicated character.

Where'd Sylar get mind reading powers?

I have that power, don't you? He is able to hear the mind ticking. He listens to watches tick. That's his power. But he needs to dissect the brain/watch the understand it. Didn't you hear Sylar talk in the car while with Bennett and Claire? He was analyzing Claire, and explain to Bennett what Claire is feeling. He's able to understand other's emotion and what other's are emoting/thinking. He doesn't read minds, he listens to the mind tick.
The ability to hear the mind tick and the urge to understand it, is what makes Sylar, Sylar. Now that Peter has Sylar's ability, being able to hear the mind tick, he also acquire to urge to understand how a person's mind works.

did anyone else's jaw drop and say "wicked!" when Sylar stood up with his neck broken and fixed himself? That part was awesome I thought.

That doesn't seem like Sylar.
Apparently the virus permanently robbed him of all his previously acquired powers except telekinesis (which I guess he used so much that it was as good as his). That's what my sister tells me, anyway, and she reads all the interviews with the producers and stuff like that.

He still has his scalping power, and he still paints the future and goes thermonuclear in the future timeline. I think he regained his powers.

Ando "died," but Father Petrelli can take away powers, and when taking Adam's power, we watched him age, die, and disintegrate.

Bad time for Tivo malfunction, Eug. This episode was worth watching. Although Max Cherry is far too much of a god character. Btw, how was he controlling Parkman's Senior while bed ridden?

He must have stolen someone's telepathy/mind control power, but couldn't do anything physically until Adam's power healed him.

Well, after several weeks of good episodes, tonight was a hot mess. Did the writers get together and go, "Hey, let's ruin all our existing villains' credibility just to make Arthur Petrelli seem a little more threatening"?
Sylar already had a backstory episode in season 1, and it was really good. Why did they have to replace it with this emo slop?
Since when is Elle all sweet and sensitive? She's supposed to be a literal sociopath for crying out loud! Her father tortured her for years! And now she's all like, "Oh no, Sylar shouldn't hurt anybody, because violence isn't good for the soul!"
And then there's Linderman, who wasn't a terribly creative villain but was a passable evil mastermind, and now he's a bumbling henchman. "But—but—what do we do, Boss?!"
Also, not related to the villain decay, but how did Arthur kill Magic Black Guy? He was able to beat Hiro's time travel but he couldn't beat a guy whose only apparent offensive power is lightning?
