I'm going to put in a plug for TextDrive. They were started by Dean Allen, the creator or Textile and TextPattern, and a genius sysadmin named Jason Hoffman. I'd been looking for a good host for a dedicated server (I have a speakers bureau client with over 10 gigs of video to host) and came across them. They had pretty much every feature I was interested in: Ruby/RubyOnRails, SVN, DAV/iCal hosting, Quicktime Streaming Server, PHP 4 & 5 with FastCGI, remote MySQL usage through CocoaMySQL, etc. I found out that they're all Mac guys, are using FreeBSD and all the latest and greatest in open-source technology, sponsor open source projects (if you buy your hosting through the RubyOnRails site, for example, half the profits go to funding the ROR project) have a great staff, and they just "get it." They also have an active forum, are building a documentation library and are very responsive. Highly recommended.

I think I am going to get Powweb. I just have to think of a good domain name. The only thing I don't like about powweb is the lack of ssh. The next best choice is dreamhost but I am not sure that the lack of ssh is worth giving up those extra 2.5 gigabytes considering I plan on running gallery.

They should have a new control panel in the next couple of months. In my first 24 hours of using them, the control panel has been the only disappointing thing. It does what I need, its just not layed out well.
