Yes, drop everything and work on this one now. I want to add color to the OS and this theme looks fantastic. Chimera looks great with those icons. Any plans to make this theme or pass it on to someone else for the finishing touches?

Well, the icons are from www.everaldo.com, this is what inspired Honz to create the Windowblinds theme. They are in 128 x 128 .PNG format and all I did was use pic2icon to use them as icons. Cheap and nasty, but it works.

As for the theme, As it is now, sliders and some of the "sm" small elements aren't done. I'll provide a download link in the next few days but it you use your initiative you can get it now.

Ok, from the start

* ChosenOS as a "concept" was made by chosenone- over at deviantart
* Honz created a windowblinds skin based on it
* I ported the windowblinds skin to XP
* I said rgoer could to the OS X port without consulting chosenone-
* **** hit the fan

I'm gonna email chosenone- again and probably get started on an OS X port.

Hmmm, who posted that then? Or do they just go around gathering?

Anyway, you can have a play with Crystal now, I feel guilty showing it and not sharing it. It's not finished, I've been exceptionally busy lately and haven't had a chance to work with it, you will probably come across a lot of aqua, the good thing is it won't look *too* out of place.

Chimera hack:

http://idisk.mac.com/dazzla/Public/ChimeraCrystal.sit

Official MSN 3 client hack:

http://idisk.mac.com/dazzla/Public/MSNCrystal.sit

With Chimera, replace the "resources" folder in the app, with MSN, just replace the app.

My vote is for Dazzla to finish a theme completely.

I say let it be Chosen! Trust me, after a day of using the Crystal theme and icons you will be sick of it.

What about that desktop pic in your screenshot of crystalized? I want that. Also, I've seen the choosenOS any chance for a simplier & cleaner version simliar to your sig?

Here's the wallpaper, it was originally posted on Neowin but that's down so I can't remember the original link or author:

http://idisk.mac.com/dazzla/Public/Crystalized-1280.jpg
http://idisk.mac.com/dazzla/Public/Crystalized-1024.jpg

I was thinking about a theme based on my sig, here's the extended version, it wasobviously crushed for the Macnn constraints:

http://idisk.mac.com/dazzla/Public/DazzlaLCDSig.gif
http://idisk.mac.com/dazzla/Public/D...CDSigGreen.gif
http://idisk.mac.com/dazzla/Public/D...DSigYellow.gif
http://idisk.mac.com/dazzla/Public/DazzlaLCDSigBlue.gif
http://idisk.mac.com/dazzla/Public/DazzlaLCDSigRuby.gif

Anyway, I've sent an email off regarding the Jaguar port of chosenOS, while I'm waiting for that, I'll have a little play in themepark.

Cool, thanks. Too bad no one makes desktops for widescreens

Also, yea, a theme like your sig would be cool. The ting I didn't like about chooseOS is the angles IIRC and the breaks in the title bar. So a smooth updated platinum theme of sorts would be sweet. Maybe using the same light blue from the cristal theme as the hilite?

Dazzla- how about something along these lines-

This is a mock up I've wished for someone to do. One guy was going to do it but got busy I guess. Maybe you'd be interested?

To be honest, I don't like the look of either of those two. But, if the general consensus prefers it...

Maybe that's why I had a hard time getting it done, lol. It's just there are no themes like this for X, there were quite a few for 9, and as a designer the colors and angles and puffy 3D widgets get annoying. It's easier on the eyes when you spend 10 hours a day looking at Photoshop pallettes.

If I could theme or had the time to I'd do my theme, but I can't. Maybe if you get some spare time maybe you can play with it? If not that's cool, just figured i'd throw it out there for any themer to do.

Ok, here's some possibilities:

http://idisk.mac.com/dazzla/Public/concept1.jpg
http://idisk.mac.com/dazzla/Public/concept2.jpg
http://idisk.mac.com/dazzla/Public/concept3.jpg
http://idisk.mac.com/dazzla/Public/concept4.jpg

Out of all of them, I would only consider concept 3 I think.Although I've run into problems with widgets like that.

Definitely 3. I really like number 3 and just the original ChosenOS look.

I really can't wait to get my hands on it!

3 is cool and so is 4, but I think I like 1 better tho. Also, the back buttons should have the same style as the column view buttons. The menu bar looks a litle soft and I wonder if it should get the same black border as the title bar? Is it possible to hav the same gradient on the buttons (path, view) as on the title bar? They looks more puffy the the title bar. What would the menus look like? And can you hype up the apple menu a little more?

Otehrwise, I put my plea into you doing this theme

Yeha, 3 and 4 were my favs as well, I've mocked up 2 more:

http://idisk.mac.com/dazzla/Public/concept5.jpg
http://idisk.mac.com/dazzla/Public/concept6.jpg

5 seems a bit busy, but 6 isn't too bad, it's more ordinary and more along the lines of KidRed's mock up.

Woah, woah, woah, lol. The only thing I've done is the widgets and the titlebar, just added on top in photoshop. The path/view etc is Sosumi and the menu bar is from chosenOS.

This conceptx.jpg thing is just for titlebar widgets.

Anyway, I'll catch up with it all in the morning, it's almost 3am here, get choosing...

I like 2 and then 3. 5 & 6 don't do it for me, nor does KidRed's mockup.

No matter which one you pick, this is gonna be one sweetass theme

Agreed about number 2.

About the whole window thing, no, it's not possible, it sucks.

They'll be a more complete mockup coming in a mo'...

That looks perfect so far Dazzla, besides the progress bars of course...

Hmm...Well, They have to be grey of course to go with the rest of the theme.

I did like how the progress bars looked when you did ChosenOS before...the unfinished one. Do you remember that? Those bars looked nice, IMO.

hmm, ok, I'll have a little play, see what I come up with. I'm gonna make a set of icons as well to match the theme, I've made 2 icons, the folders and the drives will be based on these, I haven't thought of what to do to the trash yet.

Of course, with icons this style, they only look good at 16, 32, 48 or 128, anything in between looks rough because of the nature of the exact pixels:

Love it. Yea, something slick and simple for he progress bar. Also, what are your ideas for the menus?

No sure about the folders tho. I like the 3D type folders, similar to whats in your earlier mock up but not as white.

I've done the menus, I thought they were good, they are different, but I ran across an instance where they messed up so I'll be making something different. Here's how my desktop and the theme looks at the moment:

http://idisk.mac.com/dazzla/Public/OSX44.jpg

The wallpaper will be bundled with the theme, but I'll take "chosenos" off of it and replace it with the name of this theme, which is...

..I have no idea. Suggestions?

As for the progress bars, what about the blue as the background and the candy cane stripe as the grey with gradient and style as the title bar? I can do a mock up if I didn't explain that well enough.
