I'm starting to become suspicious. This is just too way over the top. We now have 10 girls, and they all seem to say he is well endowed and awesome at sex.
Gather 5 or 10 of any other high roller's sluts. At least one will say "Nah, he was just alright". A few will refer to him as "odd". But with these girls of Tiger's, there has been nothing but rave reviews across the board. Tiger is well enodowed and has an insatiable appetite for sex... Tiger impresses porn stars in the sack... No beer-goggles chicks in the whole bunch.
For all we know, Tiger might be gayer than gay. Some long-term boyfriend might have been threatening to go public, and this whole show we're seeing is an attempt to shut that down before it even gets rolling.
Show me the girl who says Tiger was sort of dorky and went limp once or twice, and I'll believe the charade a little longer. Maybe.

Hell, I could grab a half-dozen and they'd all say the same about me... and I'm not Tiger, I'm just a regular dude. Seems believable to me...

I can't believe that so many are so fascinated by this story. Ok, I BELIEVE it, but it just makes me sad.
The only reason I'm even posting in this thread is that I am finally at the tipping point, I can't take hearing and seeing the stories EVERYDAY.
Is this REALLY what so-called "journalists" should be reporting? Is there NOTHING else that we could be better served hearing about?
Really people, get a life.

I'm sure. Can't wait to see your porn star trotting on here to proclaim you the best out of 4,692 men she's been with.
Another sign that this may be a fraud is the whole Tiger sex tape-and-photo thing. First there's a quick rumble that tapes may exist, followed by a super-fast British court decision forbidding publication of such content. This works out perfectly even if there never was any sex tape. Besides, viewing of the sex tape would surely turn up a few people who would disagree that Tiger is God's gift to hot women. A win-win for Team Tiger, whether a tape existed or not.
Maybe Team Tiger felt the need to use scandal to thrust Tiger's brand recognition from 65% to 95%. Grab market share, then refine the product.
Really, does this sound like a logical wife's reaction to what, 10-12 different mistresses - to forgo $100 million now for the sake of the family?
Tiger Woods is ready to quit golf in a desperate bid to save his shattered marriage. The 33-year-old world Number One told wife Elin he "will do anything" after being linked with a string of women.
Elin, 29, has agreed to stay with the billionaire star for the sake of their two young children. But she has given him the stark ultimatum: "It's golf... or me." Leggy Swede Elin has drawn up a strict list of rules for Woods to follow if he wants to win her back. And the beauty, who would pocket up to $100 million if she walks away, is insisting he puts their marriage and two kids before his golf career.
Tiger is 'Ready to Quit'
The more that comes out, the more fake it all seems to me.

That's what hundreds of millions of dollars and extremely high social status does to many women.

CHEATING Tiger Woods splashed out £25,000 a weekend partying with high-class hookers, a notorious Hollywood madam told a US website last night.
She said: "He had a pretty big appetite for girls. Never just one girl. He would want to set up a whole weekend of partying and have ten or 15 girls 24/7.
"Mostly young, college cuties. In an average weekend in Las Vegas he'd probably spend $30,000 or $40,000."
Madam claims Tiger Woods paid for escorts
"And every single one of the girls - about 2,000 in all - said Tiger is God's gift to women. He's the best at sex, better than any of the other guys the girls have been with. Better than Michael Jordan, better than Clooney, better than A-Rod. We can't talk about Jeter. Now tell Nike to send me the check."

Just as expected. Tiger is the best ever at sex and is well endowed.
Tiger Inc: "We'll give you an additional 20% of whatever your media take is as long as you say Tiger is amazing at sex, and that he's well endowed."
Mistress: "But he was wasted on Baily's and Ambien. Your boy was a slob, drooling, barely able to get it up".
Tiger Inc: "OK... you drive a tough bargain. How does 40% sound?"
Mistress: "It sounds like Tiger was the best ever in the sack, and he is ridiculously endowed".

The story in general.

I'm one of those guys who prefers to scam on my own. I don't need to hire lackeys to do my scamming for me.
In other news...
Several women who said they were involved with the golfer told MSNBC.com that he paid them on a regular basis. While they said there was no contract, the implicit understanding was that the money was for their silence about their involvement with Woods.
“The money comes via a wire transfer,” one woman told the site’s Scoop gossip blog. “There’s no contract about it, there’s no discussion about what it’s for, but it’s implied that it’s in exchange for keeping quiet about his affair.”
The money ranged from $5,000 to $10,000 a month, though may have gone as high as $20,000.

We were sold a fraud. That generally agitates people. Now we are learning just how much we were duped by the image makers and high-profile PR professionals.
Tiger's a tool. I've seen him a bunch at golf tournaments, and he is a complete prick. After his rounds, he doesn't even acknowledge the little kids who gather outside the tent to get his autograph. Any major athlete who doesn't sign autographs for kids is a prick.
I remember Payne Stewart spending 30 minutes signing everything for eveybody, though he did have one policy. Once I heard him say to a little girl "Sorry, honey, I don't sign balls". He then proceeded to sign the hat on her head.

There's nothing smug about my opinion. I'm just not into buying women or sending lackeys out across the globe to purchase party girls for my use at a later date.

Now this woman knows what she's doing.
With all the other ladies repeating verbatim, "Tiger is the best ever at sex", this street-smart woman is demonstrating a shrewd ability in building her brand and developing an aftermarket in wake of these revelations. Soon, rich men from all over will be paying big $$$ for TigerSex Lessons from the woman who taught Tiger how to be "the best ever at sex".

Do you know what's even more interesting than this expose? The fact that we have not heard anyone of repute come forward and say how great of a guy Tiger is.
Most of the time when people's image or reputation comes crumbling down, there's at least a few people who go on record to remind people of all the good things the person has done for his community, underpriviledged, etc... Yet we haven't heard anything grand from anyone associated with Tiger.

You need someone to remind you that Tiger Woods started a foundation to help the underpriviledged youth?
Also, let's not forget that Tiger Woods is the most recognizable and famous athlete in the WORLD. EVERYWHERE he goes he has kids and adults yelling at him, grabbing at him, trying to get him to ackowledge them, trying to get him to sign something, etc. Sorry, but you can't compare Payne Stewart signing a couple autographs to Tiger Woods not taking the time to sign autographs. If Tiger Woods stops walking to sign a couple autographs, he would IMMEDIATELY be surrounded by 100-200 people, if not more.
I'm not trying to defend him in any way - hell, even I think he is a prick. But I wouldn't call him a prick just because he doesn't stop to sign 100 autographs everywhere he goes.

You mean you actually believed "the image-makers and high-profile PR professionals" when they were talking about Tiger? If so, the fault lies with you for believing them in the first place.

Just stating the obvious -- that through all of this, we have yet to hear a person of repute speak to the media of the wonderful things Tiger has done. Nobody has any good things to say about him, other than he's great at sex and well endowed.
Tiger's a busy man. Don't bug him, kids. Just buy all the stuff he pitches, because he needs the $$$ to pay his staff to pay the party girls.

What? I always had a feeling we were being sold a pile horsecrap, just like with Dear Leader - Mr. Hope and Change. But even if I did believe it, how am I to blame? If I hadn't seen Tiger in person, there would be no other narrative I could employ in trying to ascertain the true character of the man. The majority of the folks in the world only know what the mainstream media tells them. And with Tiger being more secretive than most, I don't see how anyone who idolized Tiger could be faulted for having the wrong impression.
If your father tells you he's not really your Dad when you turn 30, is it your fault for believing he was? No, because that's the only narrative that was being told.

Umm, you are to blame for being naive enough to believe what PR flacks say about someone famous. I already said that. Where is the confusion?
Or do you expect us to believe that you are completely ignorant of the practices of PR and how they shape public perception of an individual? and genuinely believed what you were told about Tiger Woods because you were unfamiliar with how PR flacks and spin doctors work?
So, do you want to admit to being naive enough to believe what the PR flacks said about Tiger Woods
or
do you want to admit to being ignorant of the practices of PR professionals and how they work to shape public perception of a famous individual?
On a more general, practical level, I will say this: If you have no way to verify information about something do you believe it without question or believe it with a high degree of scepticism?

This has to do with the topic at hand how?
And why would you try to "ascertain the true character of [a] man" you don't even know? Why does it even matter to you what is the true character of someone you don't know and will never get to know?

The majority of folks in the world are sad little idiots for not wanting to know more about something than what they are told by the mainstream media. This applies whether that something is a professional golfer or a new, novel politician.
[Be sure to note I was not talking about Tiger specifically in my reply. Rather, I was talking about the mindset/attitude that shuns curiosity, inquisitiveness, and a desire for multi-source information gathering. I was talking about the attitude that makes people believe whatever they are told without ever doubting or questioning it.]

Why would you or anyone else idolize someone you don't really know? Tiger Woods is a phenomenal golfer. But is being a phenomenal golfer something that makes a person worthy of being idolized?

Well, it depends if there were others providing different narrative about my paternal ancestry. If my mother, grandparents, siblings, extended relatives and family friends all told me the same thing then no, it would not be my fault for believing what I was told about my paternal ancestry.
The fault with this example is that you don't start out assuming your parents are not telling you the truth. You believe what they tell you because you assume your parents would not openly and readily lie to you. Whereas, when dealing with PR flacks and spin doctors you do start out by assuming they are not telling you the truth because you should assume PR flacks and spin doctors would openly and readily lie to you, because . . . well that's their job. You see the difference? One group (parents) has a vested interest in telling you the truth whereas another group (PR flacks) does not have a vested interest in telling you the truth.
What I and many of the others in this thread are critiquing is not so much the hero worship of Tiger Woods but rather the naiveté in assuming that what the PR flacks and spin doctors were saying about Tiger Woods heroic nature was true. What we are critiquing is the willingness of those to suspend disbelief, to not question the motives of those individuals (PR flacks and spin doctors) that are known have questionable motives for their actions.
And before you say it: Yes, this critique of those who willingly suspend disbelief, to not question the motives of those individuals (PR flacks and spin doctors) that are known have questionable motives for their actions is EQUALLY applicable to the world of politics and worshipers of a certain new President who never question anything they are told about their idol/hero. Heck, the practice of spin doctors was started by our politicians and only later adopted by individuals in the public eye in the private sector.

Don't be naive. He's one of the best sportsmen in history and one of the most recognizable faces on the planet. Playing the "oh he's just a golfer why would you idolize him" card is stupid.
I idolized Patty Roy and Michael Jordan growing up, just like every other kid who had their "heros."

No one's be naive. Does being "one of the best sportsmen in history" really make someone worthy of idolization? Really?
And if it does, why? What is it about his phenomenal talent that makes him worthy of idolization? Why idolize the best golfer on the planet, probably the best golfer of all time? Why not idolize the best horseshoe thrower of all time?
What I am getting at is trying to get those of you with hero-worship to do some self-awareness of your hero and explain what particularly it is about your hero that you idolize. So, for Tiger Woods, or Michael jordan, or Mario Lemieux, what is it *specifically* about them that makes you idolize them? So far, I have heard a lot of talk about heros and idols and no talk, outside of generalities, about why particular individuals are heros. So, what is it about Tiger Woods that makes him a hero?
Is it a consistent and uniform swing?
is it the strength to drive the ball long distances?
Is it his unerring accuracy in judging a lie?
Is it his competitiveness?
Is it his seemingly effortless grace under pressure?
What about his outsized youthful success? Is that a reason why to idolize him?
With so many people in here talking about how they idolized Tiger Woods you would think that some of those people would have some insight into *why* they idolize him. So, do you, Greg? Do you have insight into *why* you idolize Tiger Woods?

One should never stop striving for clarity of thought and precision of expression.
I would prefer my humanity sullied with the tarnish of science rather than the gloss of religion.

Uhh, yes? Did you not grow up at all?

Why not? I'm sure people do. He's not winning on TV every other weekend though is he?

I don't? But why not? Did you not read my earlier post? He's perhaps the best golfer of all time, and apparently had the perfect game, wife, life, et cetera. What's not to idolize?

People lionize others who excel at something such as Tiger does, and place them on these high pedestals. Being on a high pedestal goes with the territory, I guess. We all need heroes, which is why we tend to lionize, but we also need to recognize that this is something that we have manufactured, not something that Tiger has created for himself. It's not like he is out there writing books, getting involved politically, or doing anything that would make him a big hypocrite.
I'm not trying to excuse his actions, but all of my thoughts here have put me firmly in the "don't give a rat's ass" camp.
