I don’t trust each of those emails to go to exactly the same freakin’ “new terms of service,” so I’ve saved each one to compare them. I got more than one for each of my different (purpose-specific) Gmail accounts. This lack of one-to-one thing is part of why I feel the need to compare them.
However, 9 to 5 Google says that the biggie is that Google says they won’t claim ownership of AI-generated output. Which sounds vaguely too altruistic for Google, so I’m suspicious.
My own irritant is people who drive 20+MPH faster than the posted freeway speed limit in a full-size pickup truck IN THE FREAKING RAIN. IN THE HOUSTON AREA. Sorry, did I raise my voice there?

Another in the long line of tech companies making the internet worse:
On any forum or site that allows Google authorized login, Chrome now shows a pop up where I can choose which Google account I want to use to log in to the site.
I did this fix a while back and it has made no difference. The pop up actually BLOCKS the site's native log in button where I'd enter my actual username and password, I have to dismiss the Google pop up every time.

Apple and Dropbox not getting along.
This almost became a major irritant yesterday. Dropbox can’t sync Logic files. Local versions are fine, so normally not a problem. We zip them for sync.
Inexplicably, a batch of local files got switched to online, effectively destroying them. Even if we wanted to shoulder the embarrassment of asking the person they’re recordings of to do it again, they’ve since moved out of state.
Thankfully, CrashPlan did its job.

Why why why why why
For how many people is the desired workflow Weather App > News About the Weather? For how many people is the workflow Weather App > The Fucking Weather Forecast?
https://discussions.apple.com/thread...By=best&page=1
Is Apple getting paid for Fox Weather click-throughs?

I thought you might chime in.
Lesson learned. Thankfully no lasting damage. Plan going forward is to shuttle them off Dropbox. To be fair, it wasn’t a problem until now. Dropbox really shouldn’t delete a local file without being asked.

Apple News notifications have long since been disabled.
I deleted the News app completely yesterday. Today the weather app is back to normal, though I don't know under which specific conditions it would choose to insert a news link in front of the weather.

Back with more Microsoft bologna.
Microsoft Teams will send periodic emails for any missed Teams content. If I don't have Teams open or pulled up and someone sends me a message, by default once per hour Teams will send me an email if there was any activity in that last hour that I missed. Useful-ish.
Except it will send me emails about content that I did NOT miss, and had even reacted to or already replied to.
Today, someone sent a messaged and @'d me. I reacted. Someone else responded to that message at 7:25. Then I replied twice in the chat at 7:29. At 8:21, I got an email from Teams about all of the activity I had missed:
Hi,
Your teammates are trying to reach you in Microsoft Teams.
Matthew mentioned you in chat with Matthew + 3
there are above average donuts in the office today since you cannot see them
Kari sent a message in chat with Kari + 3
By above average he means literally gourmet
Okay no prob, I'm optimistic, I bet there's a solution out there, so I start Googling around. HAHAHA how dumb could I be.

https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/...f-5d12d864f01f
https://www.reddit.com/r/MicrosoftTe..._emails_today/
Why do the independent advisors suck so bad? There problem is very clearly articulated but they misunderstand it and provide the wrong solution. And then the thread dies and no one has a real solution.
I need the notifications on because there might be a time when I miss something important, but I don't want junk emails on stuff I've already obviously seen.

I doubt very much josephine is a normal user "just like you." she reads like a bot.
Similar issue in apple knowledge base, searching for if there are drivers for an old iomega cd drive that will work with mac mini (I know) and the responses I've found are all: here's the knowledgebase article on why USB devices won't show up on desktop. And that article just basically says to unplug and try again.
Not actually answering the question at all.

So many people to thank - Microsoft, obviously, for giving me so many things to complain about. Dakar, obviously, for leaving. Um...brassplayersrock...for being...good and kind and smart. Oreocookie for giving me my last infraction in 2013. Luckily that was the one that shaped me up and now I'm good and kind and smart. Lastly to Gossamer and lothar56 for being total losers.

My car's headlights are too bright and everyone thinks I have my high beams on. I should probably start proving they're not by turning the headlights off instead of the high beams on.

I want to know what genius decided it was a good idea to allow websites/browsers hardware access to more or less anything imaginable.
The amount of "Chrome wants access to XXX" type of prompts is, quite honestly, tiring.

It's nice when you want to do a Teams or Zoom call without having to download the full app. I think I've blocked Chrome from requesting my location, every single freaking website seems to want it.

I think this qualifies as a “minor” irritant. I appear to have recently gotten over a sinus infection. When we were out of town at the end of April, my wife and I noticed that our allergy-related sinus issues went away. Duh, we weren’t in the San Antonio “cloud of ever changing, but ever present airborne irritants”. So when we came back and we both had sniffles, we both chalked it up to “the crap in the air”. My wife got better pretty quickly, but I kept having more than the usual stuffiness. I went through about a whole box of tissues over the course of less than a week.
Well around the beginning of last week, I noticed less gunk, less need for tissues, etc. On Tuesday, though, I had a pretty significant sneeze. (I hope anyone affected by the sudden overpressure event has recovered by now. ) And for some reason I examined the tissue I’d just sneezed into.
Less mucus than in the previous week though still quite a bit, but it was distinctly neon yellow. This is a distinct indicator of an immune response to an infection. Since then, I’ve made less gunk, and it’s all been a normal color.
Fun fact: my insurance changed at the beginning of April, and I won’t be able to see my new provider until this coming Tuesday. I guess I have some stories to tell…
