I liked the first season. CE was a great actor. I don't want to see another dalek or slitheen episode, however.
Genius. You know who.

I really liked the finale. What they did with BAD WOLF was rather cool as it was a paradox that let it happen.

Considering the daleks are the most popular tv villains ever, I wouldn't hold my breath on that.

I mean really, if they were willing to make those horrendous movies (*shudder*), I don't think the BBC is going to hold back now.

I think the time it takes to develop a new alien, get it's CGI down etc, means we'll have fewer one-off monsters of old, and more recurring characters. I bet they've got another slitheen episode planned for when that egg hatches. I find it miraculous the Dr and Rose managed to deliver that egg to the Slitheen homeworld without causing a ruckus.

I do hope season two brings more off-world adventuring, there's got to be a limit to how much trouble Earth can get into, right? </naive>

I have to laugh, as it was filmed in Cardiff, Wales, my home town...

I spent the whole of the series saying;

"oo ooo I went to school there"

"oo ooo I used to go shopping there"

"oo ooo I used to live there"

and on and on...

So yep, more off world stuff!

Russell T Davies, writer and Executive Producer, adds: "We were delighted and honoured by the first series' success, and we can promise new thrills, new laughs, new heartbreak, and some terrifying new aliens. The Doctor and Rose are destined to meet Queen Victoria, an evil race of Cat Women, and the dreaded Cybermen. 2006 is going to be scarier than ever!"

She has her good days and her bad days.

Here is a picture of her filming for her new role in the latest Batman movie where she plays the Jokers evil hench-women.

boys... oy.

have just got back from long trip to NZ. They showed Rose and End of World on the plane--if I wasn't hallucinating from jet lag. Also NZ is peppered with bus adverts.

Anyone read the books yet? One of them was very good, one middling, and one featured the $%^&*() slitheen.

I enjoyed it. I liked the new doctor more than I expected actually. And the preview at the end looked great.

ok yes I liked it, thought he was good in it, different to Eccleston, maybe a bit more comedy in this one and a less intense/sad character (so far). Lots of references to other other Sci Fi (Arthur Dent, swordfight with his hand), and (maybe this was me) a sly one to Casanova when he was looking for clothes and picked up a coloured tunic.

Out of interest, a question for the American watchers and other Sci Fi fans, how do you rate the Dr Who series (Eccleston and this) to American Sci Fi shows? Do you reckon the BBC are on level terms in quality with this, or do you think its got a way to go before its up there with Star Trek/Stargate etc?

It'll be much easier if you just comply.

thats hard for me to answer since the only sci-fi show i have ever really gotten into is dr. who - my wife used to watch alot of star trek when she was younger but i have gotten her into dr. who now - she thinks the classic series is kind of stupid but she likes the new series. i wish pbs still aired old dr who

The 1st series of Dr Who, with Christopher Eccleston, is going to be shown on the Sci Fi Channel in the US. No mention of a screening date but at least you guys can watch it properly on a TV instead of the internet now!!

Urgh, beat me to it! Looks like all Americans will be able to watch the first series on the Sci Fi channel, probably from about mid-March, after the current series of Galactica ends. Here is a much more dramatic link:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/doctorwho/

As an American in England, I have had the fortunate opportunity to see all of the new episodes, and it is worth watching. For old fans, the pace (and some of the humor) might take some getting used to, but there is a lot less running around corridors (padding).

I am waiting to view the christmas special now.--maybe after my final project is done.

regards to scifi and effects... this new dr who is miles ahead of the old, but still behind star trek, BSG etc. The aliens look more cartoony. Was impressed by the dragon (?) in father's day though.

It is a low budget show, campy on purpose and really damn good for British TV. I almost like it better looking ghetto.

The show is awesome. My fiance' likes it...my kids like it.....Who knew I would share this with my kids...never thought of that when I was in my teens watching it. Hopefully now that it will show here in the US its popularity will grow even more.
