I need to change the link for Pictures, in the left column under Favorites. I want to point to another hard drive on my Mac Pro. Can somebody tell me how I can do that.

Just drag and drop there the new folder for pictures and remove (control-clic over it to get such option) the older one.

If you just want to change the lin in the Finder Sidebar you can drag any folder you want in there and drag the old one off.

If you want to create a symlink, read this page:

A brief tutorial on symbolic links - Mac OS X Hints
I have plenty of more important things to do, if only I could bring myself to do them....

When I drag and drop into the trash, it won't work, it just goes back to the column. There's other stuff there I would like to get rid of but, I can't.

I'm missing something.

Hold down the option key and drag it off (not in the trash).

Yeah, drag it off like it was a Dock item. Otherwise, right-clic to remove it in a snap.
