This may be the wrong forum but ...

My daughter heads to college nextweek with her new MacBook. Any suggestions on a case for her? She's looking at a hard case (i think it's by iCase) that the MacBook fits right into, with all the ports, etc., accessible. I was thinking of a padded case. We're going to an Apple Store Monday to check out what's available, but I wonder if anyone has opinions. (silly thought, I know! Of course people have opinions!)

Some of the colored plastic cases that attach to the computer are known to leave marks. I couldn't name any brands off hand. You can take a look at this thread http://forums.macnn.com/69/mac-noteb...-mac-notebook/ , but my solution is a $30 neoprene sleeve. It wont do much if you drop it, but it guards against scratches and spills nicely.

I used an inCase neoprene sleeve on my old MB, and use one on my MBP. They work great and don't leave marks. I also have an STM backpack that I slide the MBP into after it's already in the sleeve.

I would tend to think that a hard case that's always attached to the MB would both leave marks and trap dust.
