Hi all, I'm working at a TV productions company and we have to upload hefty movie files to TV stations daily, and so have just got ourselves a dedicated broadband line for uploads, so as not to clog up the normal connection we use for the web/emails.

Now, all eight of our macs are connected up through a router and ethernet.

One of our macs, to be used for the uploads, needs to connect up to the 2nd broadband line, but STILL be conneted to the other macs via ethernet, so that we can move the files around.

I don't really see a way of making this happen. If I try to connect to the 2nd broadband line via wireless, the ethernet still takes priority.

Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

Actually, what you have to do is tell the Mac that when you want to access a certain site (IP address), that it needs to go out the interface that's connected to the dedicated upload line. This can be done by placing a static route on the Mac.

This will help:

add static route os x - Google Search

On a Mac that has 1 Ethernet and 1 wireless connection, OS X will give them device names of en0 and en1 respectively.

So, since en0 is connected to your local network, you need to tell OS X that every time you want to connect to the upload site that it has to go through the wireless (en1) interface. If that upload site has an ip address of 1.2.3.4, then you have to enter something similar to this in the terminal:

sudo route -nv add -net 1.2.3.4 -interface en1

Now you'll have to do some research on making these settings stick after a reboot, but that should do the trick. Good luck.
