I liked it a lot...and it's soundtrack...but the book was a lot better. Check it out, some of it is written in phonetic scottish slang (Kind of like Clockwork Orange if you read it)...you'll be thinking in scot' slang by the end of it...lots of things didn't make the movie as well... ... ...heh

I can not believe no one has mentioned "Pretty in Pink".
Pyschedelic Furs, New Order, OMD, The Smiths, INXS, Echo and the Bunnymen, Suzanne Vega, among others.
Soundtracks don't get any better than this.
By the way, first post. Hi all.

OK, here's a fairly obscure nomination for you all.
My favorite movie soundtrack is from my favorite movie of all time: Gallipoli. The use of Albinoni's Adagio for Strings & Organ in G Minor as the ANZAC troops arrived at the front ... one of the most evocative blendings of audio and visual imagery ever.

Has no one mentioned Amadeus yet? That's a hard one to overlook, even with all the excellent films mentioned so far...
