I'm currently thinking about making a small fishing site based on my area, kind of like the club site I have, but covering news, tournament results, aforum, reviews, etc. I'm looking for something kind of like the front page of NN.
Are there pre-packaged apps for this out there, or is it better to kind of hash your own together? Thanks for the input!

I don't know about prepackaged systems, but I'd say do it yourself. I'd have a heck of a lot more fun doing it on my own than I would just installing someone else's stuff.

I'll give it a shot, I might be in way over my head anyway, I use Freeway Express for everything I've done to date, kind of looking for someone else's code to handle the heavy lifting, as the layouts can be a bit of a bitch at times, even with WYSIWYG.

While writing everything from scratch is fun for those who have the excess hours in the day...I find that Joomla is a very simple and powerful portal syatem with add-ons that mean virually any need.
