The PPP hang bug was bad enough, but at least we had Finlay (Angus_D) to leak the patched .kext for us to return our sanity, before Apple found out and removed his .Mac page.

Then before that, there was a craptacular bug with AppleWorks where the spell check window appeared off screen so you couldn't get to it - I actually managed to get hold of Steve Jobs on that occasion (or his secretary at least), and receieved an email that had obviously been forwarded to a lot of engineers and executives that were pooping themselves. The bug was fixed shortly afterwards

The desktop text shadow bug does appear to be gone! I've not used my machine extensively since the update, but I haven't noticed it so far.

Otherwise, everything appears to be running fine on the TiBook, iBook, and G5.

I am experiencing problems with the update: it has been downloaded and installed, but the optimization has now stayed on 10 % for 40 minutes! (the progressbar is stille alive, just not moving)
Any suggestions on what to do?

TIA,
Peter

i got a kernel panic at 88%...! had a hosed system. had to archive & install, do the update again, reinstall some apps, re-configure things...
and still a few problems.

not pointing at 10.3.5, just bad luck (i guess)

you may want to do the same...

Has anyone else's Mac lost the ability to enter Deep Sleep? My Rev. A SP 1.8 G5 isn't sleeping as soundly as it did before (10.3.4). When I performed the SU there were two entries (28MB and 44MB) for the 10.3.5 Update. I'll apply the combo updater tonight and see if that fixes the problem.

So far so good! The update works great with an upgraded Sawtooth G4 (OWC 1.4ghz).

After installing the update the restart took a long time, but everything seems okay.

I ran Seti all night without any trouble. Haven't noticed any speed increases (or decreases), except that Seti processed a unit 2 hours faster than before.
Maybe it's just a coincidence because Xbench scores seem about the same.

Well, I'm happy.

Worked fine here.

Took the time to do some maintenance (Terminaled the daily/weekly/monthly scripts, fixed permissions, cleaned out some junk) before cloning and running the update from SU.

Seems to be running as smooth as silk.

Just started surfing around and man, Safari feels much faster as folks are reporting. In particular, gmail now loads in a flash compared to before!

Yep... same problem here with single CPU 1.8. Fans still run when in sleep.

I had to repair permissions on my machine because it couldn't write to a subfolder inside /tmp, but the update then downloaded and installed without any issues. Hopefully it's iSync 1.5's turn to be released.

Yeah, hoping for isync 1.5 as well.

As for 10.3.5, I noticed that the bug is still not fixed where, on a 23" Cinema Display, new icons pile up in the lower right corner rather than starting a new row.

For the deep sleep issue, there is a thread over at http://discussions.info.apple.com
located here: Home > Mac OS X > Mac OS X v10.3 Panther > Installation and Setup > 10.3.5 Sleep Issue.

Can anyone confirm if 10.3.5 fixes the disk image & volume mounting problem on G5's with 256MB video cards (9800XT and 9800 Pro Special Edition)???

Don't think that's new actually as it was happening on my [email protected] on a fresh install but no on my Powerbook. Strangest thing since icons would pile up like crazy and you wouldn't know what was in there...

Updated Rev A AluPB from 10.3.4 haven't tested yet, haven't noticed any difference
Updated Rev B DP2.0 G5 from 10.3.4 noticed immediate increase in opening apps-speed.

So far no problems, everything runs smooth, just like before ...

I updated to 10.3.5 using the Software Update. That completed fine.
But when I try to mount a dmg it fails. I downloaded the Combo
Updater (had to mount the dmg on a different machine and copy the
package over to the updated machine) and ran it. That appears to have
corrected the problem. Mounting dmg images on my other 10.3.5 machine
worked fine though.

Reading or writing? It's still dog-ass slow for me, writing to a Solaris NFS server with the Finder. I think we are going to have to wait for the new NFS locking stuff in Tiger to get this truly fixed.

And ThermoInDock doesn`t launch at all!

I know that these utilties don`t give accurate readings for the PPC 7400 (original 450MHz G4) CPU in my Cube; but they are useful as indicators of temperature change.

Anyone know why 10.3.5 doesn`t mix well with the apps (and why my PowerBook wasn`t similarly affected - Temp Monitor works fine on my PB)?

Hear, hear on that issue. Yes, 10.3.5 also borked my ThermoInDock on my Pismo. ThermographX also reported no temperature sensors.

Maybe Apple is just dropping support for G3s.

I had an odd burp with the update. When I first booted into 10.3.5 my iBook wouldn't see its internal Bluetooth module. A reboot corrected the issue, however. Not a problem just an oddity.

I updated without any problems. 15" Powerbook 1.25 ghz, 512 RAM, Bluetooth keyboard and Airport is unharmed... I have yet to test whether or not Unreal Tournament 2004 feels any faster, I would be stoked if it did.

Well, at first everything was working fine, but just now I am having CPU usage being hogged by a process called "lookupd" owned by root. I have no idea what that is, but it is screwing with my system.

I did the update, not the combo.

And now Mail will not open.

I ran cocktail and everything, reset the PRAM, and still behaves this way.

Wierd.

It's because of Dale Sorel's [CODE] tag. For some reason, using that tag causes text to stretch the thread instead of autowrapping. If he would remove the tag and just have those strings in plaintext, the thread wouldn't be widened. Of course, you'd have to fix your post also since you quoted it.

Yes, it seems like it was fixed. This is the bug discussed in this thread. YAY! Is it actually the case that only those of us with 9800XTs were bitten by this bug? Boy I went through hell trying to figure it out.

'wide thread' is referring to what happened when Dale pasted those super-long lines into his post up there.

The screensaver issue where once it turns on and you come back to the computer, the color profiles are all screwy and you have to select your normal one agian in system preferences is still there. Other than that, the new update is running just fine for me.

Does anyone else experience the screen saver thing? I've had my screensaver off since the last update.

See this thread

I hear it's fixed in 10.4
That's not it. I'm using Win IE6 at work and have the same problem. As others have said, it's the code tag. Or was that a joke?

Some of you people must have missed the Humor Update 3.5.2.

Check software update.

(no, this post wasn't funny, but funny doesn't work on some people, apparently.)
