Yes, I have a new 10.5.6 OS disk that it sees. The History of this HD is a 250GB original HD and I reformatted it and reinstalled a new OS from this 10.5.6 Disk. All was OK for a while. Thanks for the response.

Right - lets start this thread all over again.
Hello, welcome to the MacNN Forums.
What are the specifications of your G5 (disks, RAM, processors, drives)?
When did you get a Kernel Panic? Was it when you tried to boot from the install disc or before you wanted to re-format?
Have you added more RAM or any components recently?
You installed 10.5.6 and it stopped working again - with a Kernel Panic on boot? Have you tried another hard disk? Would you like some help in reading the SMART values of your disk?
The key to helping you out is as much information as possible, we can't see what you can, so need really good descriptions.

Processor 2x2.66 Ghz Dual-Core Intel Xeon
9 GB Ram DDR2 FB-DIMM
1 original internal HD 250GB Bootable
2 Seagate's each 1 TB but one is Bootable
Fresh Install of 10.5.6 after reformatting both bootable HD's
Not sure if I had a KP before installing new 1TB HD's and New OS but I did have it after on my MAIN HD that's 250GB's
Did not add any ram recently but I buy all my ram from the same vendor in town.
I haven't used the 1TB bootable HD enough to see if it crashes.
Yes I would like some help reading the SMART values of my disk
Also where I bought my Mac I ask a tech person to burn me a disk that I could boot from with the Hardware tester on it. He is very reliable but when I tried to see in system prerf's startup disks it didn't see it. I realize I'm suppose to restart with that disk holding down option key but that didn't work.
When I do a "Get Info" on the CD I got from the tech that is suppose to have Hardware tester on it I get this:
General:
Kind: Volume
Created & Modified dates 2005
Format: Mac OS Extended
Capacity:
49MB
Available: 6.4MB
Used: 42.9 MB
Ignore ownership is checked but grayed out so I can unlock it or unchck it if I needed to. Thanks
Thank You for your response.

restart the mac with the dvd in the drive. hold the alt key down to boot into open firmware and select the dvd icon to start from (this is a lower level command to selct the dvd than the d key and more reliable at starting misbehaving macs from dvd's.
run disk utility and see what it says.
It may be that your drive is on the way out. For the price of a 250GB drive, I'd spring for a new one.
The Apple Hardware test is on a hidden partition on the original dvd. You can't burn a copy and get it to work, you need the original disk.

Thanks Andrew. I did find my original G5 Gray disks and I did hold down the Option key but it only shows my two internal Bootable drives to choose from. So then I went to system Pref's and looked into startUp and it doesn't show the disk there to even select it.

Trying to boot an Intel MacPro with G5 discs will cause Kernel Panics...try your Intel OS Discs and it should work better.
