Does anyone know if Time Machine in Snow Leopard will support network storage devices out of the box, and without requiring any hacks? I need a new external harddrive, and I can't decide between a Firewire 800 drive, or NAS drive. I know all the pros/cons of each, and want the NAS unless Time Machine won't support it out of the box (I know that some NAS' come with Time Machine support, but it's just hacked in).

Thanks!

The ReadyNAS products support Time Machine without it being "hacked in". All you do is turn it on in the web control, then any stock Leopard/Snow Leopard Mac on the network sees it as a viable backup location. Restore from Time Machine works fine as well.

Actually, the feature you mention in the ReadyNAS products are just automation of the "hacks" (i.e. creating sparsebundles, etc). There is no official support from Apple, at least in 10.5.
