Anak Krakatau is a new volcano that spawned in the same spot as Krakatau after it had exploded in 1883; an explosion that was heard by 1/3 of the entire planet.
Anak Krakatau is averaging 12 feet a year, but has grown as much as 22 feet in a single year. It is the fastest growing volcano in recorded history.
Seems like we're headed for one hell of an explosion. I'm having trouble imagining a mountain growing so fast. It's crazy.

Don't know if it'll be as bad as it's mom but it surely does have a very weird name.

Interesting. There was a History Channel special on it just last night. Apparently it's so violent because it has two different types of lava that, when mixed, create an exceptionally explosive solution. I tried to find a video on YouTube of the 1920 formation of the volcano, but it's not in there.
It's really impressive.

The lavas are probably baking soda and vinegar-based.
