I took a very awkward family portrait just before Thanksgiving last year. The woman would not listen to a single instruction. She had just given birth so she was self conscious about a little extra fat under her chin and didn't want a double-chin to show in the picture. I kept telling her to dip her chin and the shadows would make her look great. In addition, the kids were running wild and neither parent would discipline them. The husband had also just single handedly built their house so they wanted the picture in front of their fire place. The setting was horrible and I did not have enough room to compose the shot correctly.

And then, when I was done, the mom informed me that the baby had a messy diaper for about an hour that she had forgot about.

Here is the best picture out of a few dozen I took. Made me rethink my ability to take a picture that would ever look good again.

That's really funny - both the site, and RR's pic.

Why has the baby got a garter belt wrapped around its head?
Been inclined to wander... off the beaten track.

I thought this thread was for us to post our awkward family photos.
That would've been a very funny thread.

It is a very weird thing isn't it. For some reason some women in the US put them on baby girl's head so people will know that they have a little girl. Not all women mind you.

I would think that just dressing your little girl in pink would make sure people don't get confused.

It traps blood in the head and makes the baby's brain develop 10x more than a normal baby. Leonardo Da Vinci, Beethoven, Jesus Luz and many others were brought up this way.

It's funny if you're laughing at the amateur portraiture. Not so funny if you're laughing at the "ugly" families.
