Resetting all folder sizes/font size

How do it do this... all my folders seem to be different size and spacing etc etc
How do i reset them system wide? Is there one plist or something I can delete for example?

The file in question is the infamous ._DSStore in each directory, but at least as of 10.5 the Finder works like this by default.

The new Mac Pro has up to 30 MB of cache inside the processor itself. That's more than the HD in my first Mac. Somehow I'm still running out of space.

Try this: Open a Finder window and adjust things to your liking. Now Ctl-click (right click) on the folder (not an icon) and select "Show View Options." At the bottom of the options window is a button marked "Use as Defaults." That should do it for you...

Ive tried that and it just doesnt seem to work system wide... ie external discs are different and even local folders dont change properly!

There are utilities to delete all the .DS_Store files. That ought to reset the behavior. Try this link, see if anything there looks promising.

The problem could lie in whether you are opening folders in a new window, or in the same window. The latter will mess things up for a previously set folder. Once you go into it that way, the size of the window is reset to whatever it was for the last folder you were viewing. So, if you close out then reopen that second folder, it will still be the size of the first one, regardless of whether it was set to be larger or smaller in the past.
