Any idea what this is, been getting it on my iMAC for a few weeks, language is set to english.
When I click the empty trash it waits 10 seconds and then the program dock disappears and comes back.
Screen Snap: (I can't snap while its happening, only before):

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that looks suspicious.
It's a good thing you didn't crop the image, because I see you have 4 versions of macKeeper on your desktop. That thing is malware, trash it. Trash it all.

Good links here:
https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3036

(the forum software does not do cropping, but you can set it to load certain sizes.)

Andi: it's a joke account.

There's a weird latest pics archive, a folder of bondage pics, six install packages of MacKeeper on the desktop, and the guy who can't crop a screenshot has a Flash installer window screenshot opened in the background.

As well as plainly visible banking account information.

Cute.

(The ten-year-old-and-dead Internet Explorer icon is a nice touch)

Also, check his posting history. They've all been joke threads.

I think Apple should change all Cancel buttons to frowny faces like in the picture.

Dammit. I guess I just can imagine some poor user out there being clueless enough to post this.

I was more interested to know what was in his bondage folder.

Thanks, I'm unsure how "cropping" the image would make the problem worse as the original is still on the desktop.
I have removed MACkeeper based on the instructions but the trash is still bloody greek.
I if still doesn't work next week I will "restart" the entire computer, but worried about what this will do to my uptime.

Thanks again.

It will reset your uptime, funnily enough.
I have plenty of more important things to do, if only I could bring myself to do them....

Cropping the image would result in quadrupling the number of MacKeeper installs on your desktop. It's like Mickey Mouse breaking brooms in the Sorcerer's Apprentice, they just multiply into lots of tiny brooms. Tiny, evil, brooms.

Don't crop images ever. Put that in your rule book along with "don't feed gremlins after midnight."

Minor quibble. That's not Greek.

Seems strange that apple would build this in the the system then, but this also explains why my RAM space is nearly full.

Sometimes they make the apple MAC so easy to use (like making a book in Imovie) then give you all the tools (preview.app etc) to cause these all problems, I hope they are not losing their path.

Thanks again for your help.

I thin it's one of those fake accounts that post a bunch of useless crap, then at some point it'll post a thread with links to MacKeeper or some other malware.

Check his posting history.

It's besson's style of lame geek humor, somewhat dumb, often annoying, but never outright malicious. The geek version of those insanely annoying poop threads and references.

Posting links to malware doesn't fit his modus operandi.

I have restarted, it didn't just reset my uptime it completely cleared it
Anyway my instinct was right and the trash seems to be fixed but............... my adobe says my free trial has expired and it wants me to pay (so much for "free" apple!).
Im going to try reinstalling mac keeper as adobe ran fine when it was installed.

Failing that i'm taking it to the apple shop.

Thanks everyone, at least the trash is emptying!

Reinstalling MACkeeper should resolve all the issues. No one wants unwanted trash issues, though if the problem persists I suggest contacting a MS store as they are more knowledgeable about garbage.
