May he rest in peace. My prayers go out to his family and friends.

Two days after I decided to get him cast in a great part. That sucks. People have been leeching money out of him for years and he had no self-control. I badly wanted him to get one last chance to prove himself.

seriously, he was a great actor, and I though he would do a final great movie or something (his latest work was declining, I mean, The Score ?)

Recently read an article someplace talking about how he'd come into massive financial troubles the last few years... Too bad. I feel sorry for him, he was a great actor. RIP

Unfortunately Brando's excesses did him in

It would of been nice to see him make a come back but honestly the guy was too much of a kook to do it.

that is odd, Colonel Kurtz was a good role in an excellent movie, it rates 35th on the IMDB top list.

Yeah but Star Wars rates 10th ahead of Citizen Kane (11th), so the list is a heaping load of greasy sht.

Memory of first encounter with Brando by Kirk Douglas:

"I went up for a part in a play called 'Truckline Cafe.' I didn't get it. Bitter, I went to see the play, watched another actor play my role. I loved the first two acts -- he was terrible. He mumbled, you couldn't hear what he was saying. I congratulated myself on how much better I would have been. Suddenly, in the third act, he erupted, electrifying the audience. I thought, 'My God, he's good!' and looked in the program for his name: Marlon Brando."(New York, mid-1940s)

Did anybody here see Brando's performance in Burn! (1969)? I really liked this movie with its wonderful score and provocative theme, but it seems to have sunk into oblivion, and I can't rent it anywhere.

Sore topic at the moment perhaps?

Just about every news show I saw over here that had an obit on him mentioned "Apocalypse Now" as one of his great and unexpected performances.
