I have a new website for work and I wanted to have google crawl it. Turns out, you need to be logged in, is there any way around that?

I don't trust google with my data. I have a practically dead gmail account, and a few years ago at least, a login wasn't necessary to have google crawl a site.

Alright, I'll do that. I just thought there is an easier way, but it seems like google really wants to have you stay logged in.

Bit the bullet and logged in
(Even following the instructions in Phileas' link eventually required a login.)

Also that forwards me to a login window (you don't see the login windows if you're logged into Google one way or another). I hope you don't think of me as paranoid, this has evolved into more of a curiosity how difficult Google makes something simple for people who don't want to be logged into a Google service.

That pales in comparison to trying to get something out of Facebook without an account.

I blame Google, not you
Seriously, though, Google's attitude is going more and more against my grain, hence my attempts to avoid a login.
