I just installed the 10.5.7 update but afterwards my MacBook Core Duo was unable to boot - it just showed a blank screen reading: "No bootable device - insert boot disk and press any key". Couldn't even boot into single user mode. When hooked uo to my iMac as a FireWire-disk, DiskUtility reports no problems!? Now I am having DiskWarrior to look at it.....

DiskWarrior found no problems either, but still unable to boot. Booting with the option key pressed promts me to select to bootdisk, but booting still fails. Guess I have to reinstall Leopard and thank heaven for TimeMachine.... ;-)

Hold down Option when booting then select your Mac partition. When booted up, go to System Preferences > Startup Disk and select your Mac partition. It's trying to boot to your non-functioning Boot Camp partition.

Even when you select the Mac partition?

Anything interesting happen during the update process? That's WAY out of the ordinary for ANY update.

Did you have Windows installed through Boot Camp? When you had Disk Warrior and Disk Utility look at your drive, did you do that by BOOTING from the DVDs? It sounds like there's a problem with the way the disk records what its bootable partitions are, and that's not a volume issue but rather a disk issue. Under DU you have to select the WHOLE disk to look for errors like this.

I did work now, but the first few attempts to boot with option key and selecting Mac partition (the only one) failed. Now I can restart and everything seems to work OK. BootCamp might have something to do with the problem, as I installed Windows 7 RC on Monday, but later had BC to erase the Windows partition.

LOL...I wondered how long it would take to get the first "10.5.7 killed my....." post.

The apple support forums are currently down, but this issue w/ 5.7 is affecting more than just you. More than 1 or 2 people are having their machines either bricked or booting w/ no display. Seems to be mostly Macbooks and Macbook Pros in particular..

I think I'll wait till 10.6 comes out. My machine is nice and stable right now..
