I just got a 1 TB HDD for my 24" aluminum iMac, but have found multiple methods for installing said hard drive online. Does anyone know the easiest, safest method for replacing the hard drive in such an iMac?

I did this upgrade on my 24" iMac after the stock 320GB drive died. I was able to replace the drive without disconnecting the cables from the display. After removing the 8 screws holding the display in, I was able to prop it up with some plastic spice containers. Then I was able to reach in and unclick the HDD. I wish I had taken some pics. I used a Western Digital Black 1TB. Excellent upgrade. Took about 40 minutes.

I've personally used this awesome guide for iMac 2007, 2008 and 2009 hard drive upgrade
http://www.amfiteatar.org/content/view/155/57/lang,en/
I just looked at it again, it seems the article has been updated to cover iMac upgrade to 2TB drives as well!
There is also reference on iMac CPU, GPU and Optical drive upgrade somewhere in the user comments.
Cheers!
