When I copy files from OS X (Jaguar) to a USB disk, OS X changes the creation date to today. I'd like to keep the original dates if possible. Any ideas?

I know that a workaround is to include the creation date in the filename. But I figured that all of the flexibility of Unix would allow some global fix.

On the command line, you could use rsync with the -a option.

So there's no resolution for this, really, huh? That's what I thought.

Did Power's solution not work?

You could always duplicate the file and instead of copying, move the duplicate over (command-drag the file) to the USB disk.
