Time is up for new battery for my macbook air. Last round I replaced it at the Apple store. Are there any 3rd party batteries that are 100% as good?

Reader, I'd prefer a store do it. And I've bought Apple things on Amazon that don't turn out well.

iFixit is my goto place for DIY battery replacement. They provide everything you need at a competitive price.

I've successfully replaced iPhone and MacBook Pro batteries with their kits.

thanks A questions:

1- how good is the battery compared to an Apple one, or can you know?
2- how complicated is putting it in? I tried a kit for a hardrive SSL, and had to give up and hire someone local to do it.
3- about what does Apple charge at their stores or replace and put it in for you currently?

1 - It's made by Simplo who I know is a supplier of batteries to Apple. After 1.5 years (127 cycles) the battery is at 93% of design capacity.
2 - It's not simple, that's for sure. If you check out the iFixit site, they have step-by-step instructions. You can judge for yourself if it's something you want to attempt. The hardest part is getting the old battery out. It's glued to the case. At least in the case of the MacBook Pro.
3 - They charge US$129 - $199 to replace it for you.

I paid $89 for the iFixit battery kit last year. I think it's $99 now.
