Hello,
I am ebuddy's wife and I apologize for not updating sooner. He absolutely loved the intellectual exercise that this forum provided and felt like he had formed many friendships here. Glen passed away on January 30th. Thankfully, he was with his family and at home. The cancer invaded his body quickly and he was far too young. I miss his wit, humor and everything else. I could post a book about him but I will spare you all from that. He loved the quest for knowledge and I can't even watch the news or politics anymore. He was my discussion person. I can't bring myself to care about this upcoming election and the circus it is. Mainly, because I don't get to share it with him. He was kind, thoughtful and most of all, just a good man. He considered so many in this forum a friend to him and I hate to share this news with you all. It's taken me some time to be able to log in. There were many times when I razzed him for the time he spent posting here. I am glad now that I can go back and read his thoughts and hear his voice in the old posts. Love your loved ones folks!! and be kind to the people you don't like either.... you never know what is going on with them, Thank you all again for your kind words and your friendships with him.

I'm very sorry to hear that.

We often disagreed, but had the utmost respect for one another.

Bless him, and bless you. Take care.

Man...

Everyone respected him. I especially loved reading his thoughts when we dove into spiritual matters.

I'm so sorry for you guys. I'll keep you all in my thoughts and prayers.

Politically speaking, ebuddy and I were on the opposite sides of things a good 90% of the time. But our debates were always intellectually stimulating. Some were quite epic in the PWL. He even managed to get me to alter my POV on occasion ... which is a rare accomplishment around here. He always said that of all the forum residents I was someone he would most like to have a beer with. Sadly I won't have the opportunity to do that in this life. But in the tradition of my ancestors I pour libations to his departed soul. Here in the forum virtually with this and later IRL with that beer we always talked about.

Rest well my friend. And to you Mrs. Ebuddy .... May the Lord bless you, keep you, and grant you peace.

My first discussion of politics here was with ebuddy.

He completely disagreed with me.

At the time I had no idea, but I needed his disagreement. It was a wake-up call. I have long considered that discussion, almost 10 years ago now, the first and most important step in improving my own quest for knowledge.

It's hard to overstate how much I'll miss him. I can't fathom your loss.

Mrs. Ebuddy.

Thank you for taking the time to give us an update. I cannot imagine the feelings of loss you must be experiencing, especially considering how much I miss Glen here at the NN'. I've never been the greatest at putting these types of feelings to words, but nonetheless...

He may be gone form this Earth, but never forgotten. I can say with the utmost pride that a piece of him still lives within me. When I first joined the forums, I was around 18 and just getting started on figuring out how to organize and express my thoughts. Glen helped me immensely not only by example, but in our conversations as well. I will forever be thankful to him for the positive impact he had on me as I grew up, and I hope that my continued presence here can help pass that onto others as he did for me.

I hope that you continue to visit us here regularly, please know that you're always welcome and that you, as the love of Glen's life, always have a warm and welcome seat at our table. God Bless Glen, and God Bless you.

With love,
-James

My heartfelt sympathy to you and your family. ebuddy was an excellent rhetorician, and skilled at pointing out details that were important in discussions - whether anyone else wanted to consider them or not.

We miss his presence. May he rest in peace and grace.

I am always at a loss for words at times like this. A friend of mine lost two close family members to cancer unexpectedly, and it has wrecked so much. I'm sure it's a cliche, but take care of the children. Everything else is secondary.
The new Mac Pro has up to 30 MB of cache inside the processor itself. That's more than the HD in my first Mac. Somehow I'm still running out of space.

It seems like only a short time ago he was here posting with us. I really expected that we'd hear from him again. This all happened so quickly. I can't imagine what you and the family must be going through. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Glen brought a lot of life to this place. He will be greatly missed.

My condolences on your loss! He and I didn't often agree on things, but I respected his thought and thoroughness when we were involved in political debates, both directed to me and to others here! You are correct when you say to be kind to those you don't agree with, as you never know what's going on in someone's mind, and they may not know yours. Not to turn this toward me, but I came extremely close to losing my life in a serious accident a little over a year ago, and It changed my outlook, and how I react to others, when I realized that you only get one go round this planet; make the most of it!

Best wishes to you and your family!

I'm so sorry to hear the news of your loss and truly appreciate you taking the time and emotional energy to post here. I hope you find some comfort in knowing that ebuddy impacted the lives of people he never even met in person.

When I posted last September hoping for a speedy recovery I commented on ebuddy's strong faith. As a religious person, and assuming you share his faith, I hope it is a source of peace and comfort to you and your family.

Do you have a preferred charity we can donate to?

Perhaps we could start a tradition. Some small but permanent change to the site as a tribute. An icon or badge or something? Mrs eBuddy's choice. Just a thought.
I have plenty of more important things to do, if only I could bring myself to do them....

No - Thank you for asking- Any fiscally responsible charity is respectable - Heifer International and Compassion International I've heard are good (i'm not researched on it so check first) or maybe kids always need mentors for things like coaching, lessons etc- Glen always did bell ringing- but he loved the Holidays-- more so than it being a choice charity, he would try to help a neighbor with the trash, or little volunteer jobs for church and such - wherever you see a gap, fill it when you can

Heifer International is probably the charity I've used the most times in my life. Good on them.

Yes, indeed. You may remember that eBuddy and I have had many hundreds of hours of back and forth climate change posts over the years. Some circle of life things happening in this thread.
