Simple question. If i want to keep a few audiobooks on my ipod so i can work my way through them at random times is there anyway to keep them from playing when i just want to shuffle through my whole playlist on random?

If so is this method dependent on the audio books being in the audiobook format from itunes music store (.aa)? Because i'm hoping to take advantage of some books on cd that i did not buy digitally from apple but instead as these weird physical discs that you have to place into a "cd player" ... how old fashioned.
ipod why have you forsaken me?!?!?!
