How much do data do you use on your current iPhone on a monthly basis? I'm mainly talking non-tethered usage, but would be interested in tethered usage as well. (My understanding is tethered means jailbreaked.)

I think I'm usually right around 100MB. This cycle, which ends in 2 days, is going to be below 100 because I was in Europe for 10 days and only surfed when I had WiFi (which wasn't very often).

It also means violating the TOS.

If you're talking about the terms of service of the data plan, you're not violating the TOS if you get a tethering plan.

Tethering isn't jailbreaking. Tethering is using a cellular phone as a modem to get online with a desk/laptop.

OK, but I guess that means you sometimes go over 100?

Yes I know. What I meant is that tethering can only be done with a jailbreaked iPhone.

See, so far 100 seems more than enough. Trust me Eug you'd be fine with 400 unless you are REALLY trying to prove us wrong.

Well, when I'm at home, I don't use the iPhone to access the WiFi network (2 Macs at my disposal). When I go out, I rarely find a free network I can hop onto. I mainly use it for the maps feature when traveling, but occasionally if I'm not driving I'll check my email and browse.

Only once in 8 months. I've been in the high 90s several times.

I thought this would be a more popular than it's been in the last 24h...

From the other extreme end:

Just to give you some insight on iphone data usage. I was in the states using an unlimited prepaid card. I used up more than 150 MB in less than 5 days. That was email (check once an hour), surfing and using Google maps (no satellite images). No youtube, streaming audio or video or downloading PDFs.

Bullshit. I like the way he just casually mentions "Surfing".
