Just wondering if the memory is integrated on this GPU or if it's not onboard.

ATI has both options, but my guess is that the DDR is separate.

I dunno if it would make a huge difference in terms of the TiBook, but the integrated version is supposed to be faster.

I believe the video memory is on the chip. ATi sells three models: one with 64 megabytes of memory on-board and a 128-bit memory architecture, one with 32 megabytes of memory on-board and a 64-bit memory architecture, and one without any video memory on-board at all.

How do you know what's on the TiBook? I can find no info on this anywhere.

I just saw the RADEON 9000 on the motherboard. I didn't see any traces to external video memory.

Cool. It would save mobo real estate too. I wonder what it means for heat.

By the way, any idea if a 12.5" drive would fit in this TiBook?

I don't know- the only instance I've seen where you can upgrade your ram is from my Compaq laptop with an M6- the ram is external, and visable in the memory compartment right next to the system memory.

I'll probably upgrade it one of these days.

I wasn't thinking of upgrading RAM actually. I was just wondering if the RAM was integrated or not, purely out of interest's sake.

Sean, why don't you and JayTi open up his PB and take some photos of the various changes and post a detailed pictogram of it.... that would be cool!

NO. As stated above the video chip is soldered on the motherboard. Video circuitry has always been integrated into laptop motherboards other than the very rare exception.
