Anyone have any clues as to a really good RAR unpacker.

I am using UnRarX - which is good but won't unpack multiple password protected RARs - if they are not just parts of the same packtte -yet they have the same password - so you have to quit the app to unpack each separate file. Plus it doesn't remember passwords - meaning you have to enter them repetitively.

UnRarX: http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/15272

Thanx in-advance :)

I have never had a problem with the unrar command line application.

I've been happy with MacPAR, just not sure how it handles passwords:

Stuffit Expander 10 does the trick just fine - and it's free too.

Expander works great for me, but it always pops up an error when it's done saying the decompressed file isn't a compressed file. Stupid.

I use the official rar command line tool. It has never failed. I don't like Stuffit because if a RAR is corrupt, it won't clean the invisible folder where it managed to extract some data. As a result, I found once that it was secretly wasted nearly 500MB of space with folders littered over my disc. If you use easyfind or some other search tool and look for invisible stuffit files/folders, you may find some.

Hmmm, it doesn't seem to be free but it hasn't expired for me yet:

You can always try the ones on versiontracker:

http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/19710
http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/14338

I like the official one as it seems to have more features. One of the newer features was recovering better from a corrupt archive - I got much more files back.

Yeah, I've noticed Expander doesn't deal with bad rars very well. I had one where it just ran forever, sucking up memory.

UnRarX doesn't 'hold' passwords or allow multiple extracting
of single passworded coded RAR files - without quitting the app
and going through the whole process of opening and closing
application repeatedly.

But thanks everyone for your suggestions :)
