OK, so I have a little annoying problem. I'm not in college anymore. I don't have music playing 24/7 in my dorm room. I like to keep iTunes turned off, but it now turns itself back on after 2 mins and 2 secs - every time. It would spook me, if I didn't know any better. Strangely, it doesn't start up in the foreground, even if I'm not touching the computer. The window opens between Safari and Adium.

Any ideas? Did I accidentally write a script (something I don't have a clue about, maybe obviously) that tells iTunes to start up automatically after 2:02?

Do you have some script running iTunes in Adium ? I mean some script that might trigger iTunes from within Adium.

If you use Limewire integration with iTunes it will open itunes to register new files in its playlist. Also for podcasting and iPodderX will do a similar thing.

Do you have any other software that may be trying to communicate with iTunes and open it in the background?

Ok, rebooting fixed the problem, but I'm still curious about what the hell happened.

Probably the iTunes Dashbored widget opened it. It's known to do that.
