Ok....I've got a Yikes G4 with PCI graphics and am LUSTING after a new Apple 17" monitor. I need to know which video card I can buy so that I can use the new Apple DVI monitors. Or will I need to purchase a card/adapter combination? Thanks ......

You will need to buy a VGA/ADC adapter as soon as it's avilible. (I'm not sure if it's out now and who makes it.)

lol! $300. May I suggest you splash out on a new graphics card (I recommend either the Radeon or GeForce). By doing this you will increase your G4's graphics capabilities, save yourself a few hundred bucks as well as being able to run your new 17" wacky display.

Uh no to both. He has a G4 that's not even compatable with AGP, let alone ADC AGP. Secondly, the DVI to ADC adapter is to hook up DVI monitors to an ADC port. You are both wrong, I'm sorry. Wait for the VGA to ADC adapter.

My bad on the PCI thing - thanks for pointing that out ever so KINDLY.
That said, I don't think you can just change graphics cards because the motherboards are different for the digital interfaces as they provide the power as well. Pre-digital or PCI interfaces don't have the capacity (from what I've been told) to accommodate the digital connections' power to the displays.

ADC AGP slots are on BOTH Gigabit Ethernet (Mystic) and Digital Audio G4s.

Listen up Norm.
DVI connectors do not provide power to the monitors.
ADC connectors provide power to monitors.
You can not take an AGP card with ADC and put in into a G4 that came with AGP/DVI as the motherboard does not have the power to drive the displays - get it?
If this is wrong, that's what I was told.

Ahem, I told you! GIGABIT ETHERNET (MYSTIC) AND DIGITAL AUDIO G4S HAVE ADC AGP SLOTS. I NEVER SAID THAT YOU COULD PUT AN ADC CARD INTO AN AGP (SAWTOOTH) G4!
Secondly, I'm sorry. There were two other products that I knew of before that would only hook up DVI monitors to ADC cards, not the other way around.

I NEVER SAID DVI CONNECTORS PROVIDED POWER! I ALREADY KNEW ADC CONNECTORS PROVIDED POWER!
