Ok, so today I opened System Profiler and noticed the following:
FYI, I got the logic board replaced for screen flickering about two months ago.

Yep that will be why. I had a G3 iBook that was in the free logic board replacement range, and it was replaced three times while I had it, resulting in the About This Mac window reporting the serial number as "Serial Number" - I never did check System Profiler though.
Then when my 12" PowerBook had its logic board replaced, it resulted in a new serial number displaying rather than just the words, so I guessed something changed systemwise around that iteration.

So I'm ok? I'm planning on taking the computer to a new place, since the last was a little negligent.

Should be fine - if they need the serial number of the machine it is somewhere on it anyway, in the battery compartment usually I think; 'they' should know .

See, what happened is you apparently left it out in the cold for too long and it froze. The Serial Number is still numb. Just kidding. Yeah, it's because of the logic board replacement. Luckily there are other place to find the serial number.

If it really bothers you, check out this thread. Seems an Apple tech left a "Set System Serial Number" CD in some guys Mac when he got the logic board replaced. He made disk image available if you want to download it.

Remove the battery. The serial number is right there in the battery bay. When you received a new logic board they simply didn't write a serial no. to the new board. You still have a serial no. though and the repair receipt just in case. That's all you need. Nothing to worry about.

Thank you all for the feedback. I'll download the disk image when I get my Combo Drive fixed ¬.¬.
