I took the linux perl benchmark script that some folks use and made it MacOS X happy.
You can find it here for about 10 days.
DF Benchmark Perl Script
I included some basic instructions.
If you want you can post your mac benchmarks you get with it.
It is best to stop your client(s), start them fresh, wait an hour or so and run the script to get a good estimate of what you can do in a day. The longer you let it the client run before running the script, the better the estimate will be. you can also rerun the script later on. You should use your machine like you will normally if it isn't a dedicated DC machine so you have a better idea of what a day would really be like.
There are some other DFScripts on my iDisk you could play with if you know your unix well. I set them up for netbooting use on OS X Server with a bunch of macs. There are no directions and they aren't well tested so use at your own risk.
The scripts should all be put in the distribfold directory loose if you want to mess with them.
There is a starter that auto configures your DF installs to work the best they can on the system they are installed on and some little ultility scripts for starting/stopping/checking. Also, crontab files for autostarting the clients at boot, submitting the results before protein change on Tues (no longer needed) and making sure the clients are up and running all the time.
Again play at your own risk.

This is an imac G4 800, but it sleeps a lot, hence the low numbers.

This next one is my iBook 600, it has a short sample but this is about average for it.
I discovered that Palm Desktop and TImbuktu love to steal some cpu with their background apps, so I killed them and then checked the numbers a few times.

Looks to me like DF is not making use of much other than the CPU and MHz.
Compare the G3 to the G4, they are pretty close.
I'm thinking I'm gonna like F@H or D2OL better due to vector math any day now.

BTW I fixed the script.
It said Mb instead of Kb for the cache sizes.
Silly me.
The numbers were right just the wrong letter after it.
