Ok, first off i'm not wanting to submit a display bug. but a feature request.
I went to www.apple.com/safari/feedback and the page isn't there.
I can't use the bug button without a URL as it disables the submit button.

what can i do?

(if anyone from apple is reading this and can pass it along here's the request)

In the prefs, i have the option to download files to the desktop or 'other...' where i can select a different folder. e.g. ~/downloads.
what i really would like is an option for a dialogue or sheet, like those other slow browsers have. so i can file my downloads as i download and avoid a lot of junk on my desktop that i'd have to sort through later.

(i hope to see this feature and thanks for reading.)

You can still use the button without a URL entered. The submit button won't activate until there is either a URL or comment present. This is how I've sent several feature requests.

I *hope* they don't make it so we have to tell it where to put the file for *every* download. Unlike you, I prefer all my downloads to go to the same place, so I can organize them later... How can they make both of us happy?

I *need* to be able to choose where I download items because I download content for clients and it sucks to have to sifle thru and sort then relocated dozens of files daily. I think the best way would be to have the current way but add a check mark to *ask what to do* type of option. So unchecked would download to defualt folder, checked would ask every time a file is downloaded.

I have submitted this as feedback as well.

right now there is two options in the prefs, 'desktop' and 'other...'

other will only let you choose a different folder to use in place of the desktop. all your downloads go to that folder instead.

what i'd like is a third option. 'dialogue...' or 'select on download' where i can choose a different folder for every download, how mozilla or chimera work.

they could leave the options they already have and we'd both be happy.

How bout doing what Chimera does?

If you *click* on a download link, it downloads to
your set directory.

If you right-click & select "Download Link Target", it brings up a dialog.

I'd prefer it to be done the way IE does it: downloads go straight to my nominated folder, Save Image As... brings up a dialog.

I never noticed that. or maybe it's not in 0.6. are you using one of the nightlies (or whatever)?

Well, I'd prefer the option of using a dialogue, while leaving you the option of using your default downloads folder.

Options are good.
