That's more than 25% better performance than the previous version.

So they were being conservative when Maxon said they were expecting about 480 with the dual G5.

Also, Maxon is going to be doing further optimizations in early 2004 for a G5 re-release. Just in time for the rev. B Power Macs.

Yep, not bad at all! I'm anxious to see some numbers from a comparable dual, but with cas 3 memory. I paid a premium for mine, and I'm not convinced that the G5 bios is taking advantage of the more agressive memory timing.

I'll do it when I get home on my dual but I'm pretty certain there won't be much of a difference. I tested a bunch of things between CAS 2.5 and 3.0 and nada.

Thanks Jerry. We await the news. At this point for me, it's not about speed; this baby's plenty fast enough (for now :-). It'll be good for the community to know what, if any benefit they'll receive for the cost of cas 2. For the money I spent on 2 gig of this ram, I could have bought 4 Gig of cas 3.
