Hi,
I'm using the latest 15" 1.67ghz Al PowerBook G4 SuperDrive and I noticed that when the screen lid is closed, there's an uneven gap between the screen lid (top) and the case (bottom). The gap seems to be slightly wider on the right than the left...
Is there anything wrong?

Other threads on this. Nothing wrong but if it bothers you, check out the RadTech Wildpeepz. Work great though a silly name.

Believe it or not this is perfectly normal. Every 15" Powerbook is like that, I know because when I got my last 15" Powerbook it had the same thing and when I asked about it in the store I was told it is normal. Every 15" Powerbook I've seen and thats quite a few at several Apple Stores and CompUSA's has the gap on the right side. So don't worry just enjoy it.

My 12" had it, my 15" has it. It's normal. Stay cool.

It may be 'normal', as in all of them are like this, BUT it's obviously not intentional that the gap on ONE side is much larger than the other side. I get a feeling that it's not the the display but rather something with how the hinges are mounted. Not sure though...
In any case, though it doesn't bother me at all anymore, I'm surprised Apple still hasn't made adjustments.

I just got my new 12" last Sat and the left side doesn't touch like the right side. Sounds like it's the same for most of them.

Lots of threads already on the wildpeepz, but they do help even things out.

My 12" wouldn't be uneven when closed but if I picked it up with one hand the screen would be uneven (ie. if I picked it up from the right side, the right side would be against the base of the PB whereas the left side wouldn't touch). I recently thought about getting the Radtech Wildeepz but as I was cleaning my room, I found some cushions that came with my IKEA drawer set to keep the drawers from scratching the wood. They always throw in a couple extra, and I placed one in each corner and boy did I not only get rid of the uneven problem when picking it up but I also have a more solid feeling machine when moving it around while closed.

my 12" has a similar problem, but it seemed to come with two small studs like the Wildeepz that mean I don't worry about the screen impacting the keyboard (had that happen on a Compaq laptop... very messy !)
Seems to be pretty consistent on every PowerBook and iBook I've seen. My Vaio has the same issue.
Hmmm... maybe everything coming out of the ASUS factories have this issue

This is a design flaw. My brother's 12inch Does not have this problem, but my 15 does. Reading this thread got me annoyed and I just purchased wildeepz to solve this problem. I'm sick of it!

And a pathetic one indeed. A dozen generations G4 machines and they still couldn't get a slimline design to work. They should add this on their polished product flyers/photos: "Your product quality may vary". Ha!

My 15" titanium powerbook was worse: The center part was touching, and both ends were up. I fixed it though. I threw a book in the center and pushed down on the corners.... fairly HARD too, and it bent them back to a reasonably straight line again. TRY AT YOUR OWN RISK.
