1. Dinosaur Jr.
2. Smashing Pumpkins
3. Fugazi

Most of the bands in all the posts so far were great. Well except Oasis, and they sucked IMO.
Jane's would be 4th and Rage 5th in my book.
The Religious Right is neither.

Pearl Jam
Rage Against the Machine
Pink Floyd... errr

The Tragically Hip! very underrated down south, and overpopular up here, but they're awesome. so poetic.

I just think Pink Floyd should be mentioned anytime you're talkin bout bands.

Fugazi? Meh

Most of the people I knew that liked them really never listened to them. But wanted people to think they did because it was cool to own their music.

Never got the appeal.

Bad Brains were better.

they're really good. the entirety of their catalogue (fugazi) is pretty interesting, they've evolved as a band a pretty insane amount the 14 years or so they've been around. then again, i've really listened to them. i dont know about the "appeal", i guess it either does it for you or it doesnt.

How does everyone feel about the Foo Fighters? After two shows in Berkeley we are quite inclined to put them up near the top of the list.

...but none of their albums from this time are anything more than halfway decent to downright mediocre.

Dave's first two discs were great, and There Is Nothing Left To Lose is a definite step down in consistency (even though IMO it does contain some of the Foo's best songs; I think Aurora is the best song Dave's ever written). Everything following that has been a progressive slide into mediocrity, I'm afraid.

So yeah. Their 90s albums might be quite good, but I think There is Nothing... and the following albums kinda ruined that....

Anyone with that hair/fashion combo has no business laughing at anyone.

1. Pavement
2. Nirvana
3. Oasis (first two albums only, consideration of any other releases drops them out of the top 100)

nath's definition of rock for purposes of this poll:
must play loud guitars
can't be genre-based (hair-metal, britpop, etc)
must have at least one band member with silly name

When you have that much talent, you can laugh at anyone you like.

There are exceptions. Check out the look on his face in both pictures.

If your tackle isn't snug, you can't unleash the fookin' fury. It's that simple.

I seriously doubt his ability to unleash. Or even unzip, safely.
