Who uses glasses cleaner on macboook screen?

Does anyone here have any luck with trying to use glasses cleaner on the screen of their macbook. I read the wallmart brand works well but i used it and it leaves HORRIBLE and i meanHORRIBLE streaks on my screen. it looks as if someone just spread grease on the screen. I have better luck with h20 and papertowls.

There is a product called "CleanDR" from CompUSA and many other fine retailers. It is great for cleaning LCD screens, etc. I use it to clean my notebook and LCD/TV screens. No streaks whatsoever!
Note: CleanDr. is alcohol and ammonia free.

cool thanks. This stuff doesnt really leave a streak though it is more of a burnt plastic look. I know i can get it off because i have done it before but i thought it only smeared because of the other clean i was using with it.

No problem...  I used to use "Endust for Electronics" until I decided to try "CleanDR." The former always left little streaks, which I could not stand after a while.

i use the walmart cleaner. i've used it since 2002 and i still swear by it. i'm really sorry it didn't work for you. try emptying the bottle and going to another walmart to get it refilled. each walmart has a really huge bottle that they refill from. maybe you got a bad batch.

I wouldn't use glasses cleaner on a PC, much less a MacBook. It's corrosive to softer plastics, like the glossy screen.

The guys at the AppleStore told me that using glasses cleaner on the screen my damage the screen. They recommend iKlear.

more clarification might be needed for that answer.
The reason why you wouldn't use GLASS (ie - windex) cleaner on screens is because they contain ammonia and/or alcohol.
GLASSES cleaner may or may not contain ammonia and/or alcohol.
the box of the walmart eyeglass cleaner SPECIFICALLY says that it does not contain ammonia
in terms of iKlear, there is still some debate. look at this thread

I've been using Kensington's "Screen Guardian-non-abrasive cleaner for notebook, anti-glare and polarized computer screens"... it does a great job on the macBook's glossy screen.
They also make another product for CRT screens, don't mix them up.

I dont use glass cleaner on my screen... I do however use if on the outer case of the MacBook

I would not use anything with ammonia, because it will damage the plastic finish on your MacBook. CleanDr. is awesome, and it is alcohol and ammonia free.

I used to use rubbing alcohol, anymore I just wet my Mr Clean Eraser.
