OK. I'm thinking of getting a domain name. Let's use example.com.
Can I point www.example.com at my webspace and have mycomputer.example.com point to my computer (which is currently connecting through dialup, soon to be dsl)?

I know I don't need to do this and there are no reasons why I should but i'm curious. It's more for convenience i think.

Wait, I've thought of a reason, so I cn get at my stuff without having to use dyndns.org or whatever.

If anyone can point me at a good dummies guide to dns I would be most grateful.

Thanks.

If your ISP uses DHCP, you just about have to have a dynamic DNS service because your IP address could change every few days (depending on the length of the DHCP lease). I just bought a Netgear wireless router that supports dynamic DNS, so I'm considering going that route myself.
