Has anyone else found that 10.4 has all but broken copy and paste between Illustrator (both 10 and CS) and virtually every other application?

The following is what I've tried (copy from -> paste to):

Keynote -> Illustrator 10 & CS = nothing
Illustrator 10 -> Keynote = crash Illustrator, usually crash Keynote
Illustrator CS -> Keynote = nothing
Preview -> Illustrator 10&CS = nothing
R (http://cran.r-project.org) -> Illustrator 10&CS = nothing

All of these worked absolutely flawlessly in 10.3.

This has caused a MAJOR productivity crash for me

Suggestions/reproduction of problem appreciated...

The solution to this is all over the web. A quick search would have turned it up.

If that doesn't work, leave Copy as AICB checked.

Chris:

Well, I searched Adobe's support pages (which suck) and the MacNN forums (MacNN being my main source of Mac help) and found nothing.

Guess I should've asked google to avoid your smackdown. But, IMO having the answer duplicated in this forum is only going to help others.

Anyway, thanks for the link.

hi Cambro,

I meant it more as a gentle smack than a smack "down".

I haven't installed TIger yet. It's supposed to arrive tomorrow and I'll have to see if I have a problem with Illustrator CS. Hopefully those solutions work. Apparently deleting the prefs can also help.

Checking that one box in Illustrator preferences fixed the copy-paste issues in Illustator.

Illustrator CS is still pretty crappy IMO (biggest complaint is when opening pdfs and copying some objects CS often gives a warning box saying "to preserve appearance text has been outlined"...even though it looks fine with nice editable text in AI 10...if you have a way to force CS to NOT convert text into useless outlines please let me know!).

Anyway....

Tiger must have changed something about how clipboard information is handled but I haven't found anything specific about what these changes are.

I've seen that but never figured it out.
