Tooki recommended I post this in the lounge, so here I go.

I have tried emailing Apple but they have not responded, so I'm turning to you Mac pros!

I'm currently attending the Ringling School of Art & Design this summer for two weeks only, and my professor tells me I'm eligible for savings on Apple products. Is that true or is he mistaken? Do I need to be a regular student there in order to be able to get the student discount at apple.com ?

If I was to buy one of the new G5s right now, which are going to start shipping in August, would they charge my credit card immediately or when the item is shipped? The problem is that currently I don't have enough money for the Power Mac, but definitively will by August.

Thanks in advance!

As far as I know they charge you when it is shipped.

Yes you should be abl eto get our discount over Apple.com or you can call them or go to an Apple store if you happen to be lucky enough to be close to one. They would bill your card when it shipped

Congratulations in advance ... that's gonna be a nice set-up.

This place will be going crazy by the end of July.

Thanks .. As soon as I get it I'll upgrade the memory to 1.5 GB and the hard drive to 120GB.

I have one question, though.. As I am a student, I don't necessarily have my own credit card and such, and thus my mom paid for the Power Mac. Will they know that I am the one who is the student at Ringling School of Art and Design and I will be eligible for the education discount?

They will charge her card the 1,798.67 mentioned in the email. That sounds like you did get the discount.
