According to Apple's docs, 10.3.9 has fixes for the intermittent trackpad problem with some new Powerbooks:

"Addresses slow vertical tracking and intermittent trackpad behavior on PowerBook G4 12-inch 1.5GHz, 15-inch 1.67/1.5GHz, and 17-inch 1.67GHz computers"

Also, this...

"If your PowerBook G4 sometimes wakes up with a kernel panic, installing this update may help."

YES! The vertical tracking is back to normal, like it was with my TI!

If only the spacebar was a bit more sensitive this would be the perfect laptop!

now all we need is sidetrack support.

i would love to use this to trick out expose.

yes. his web site says that sidetrack does not support the new Alu PBs.

?? is there another way to do this? I am an expose manic.

After install 10.3.9 ...
I find the CPU doing a lot more work..
I have MenuMeters on... and i see the CPU usage more even when i'm just surfing with iTunes on..
Anyone else notice this?

hmm this week my powerbook has not awoken/did not sleep and i had to hard restart. it is awake when i close it, but it doesn't sleep ie everything still spinning, but the monitor is not on...

i will download this update

Maybe in time Sidetrack will support the new trackpads.
There is reason to believe I'll have positive news on this front in just a few weeks
