Is the built-in compass app in iPhone 3GS limited to magnetic heading? I think it would be pretty cool if there were a toggle to switch between magnetic and true. The phone ought to be able to do true based on the GPS position.

It's selectable. Once the app knows your location, it can find the declination and thus give you either true or magnetic. Pretty handy, eh?
