Which leads me to another point. I didn't put this in my last post since there seems to be two schools of thought.

School 1:

The clerk recommended I pick up at least two different scents. When you wear just one, you get used to the smell eventually. This is bad since you eventually end up using way too much as your nose becomes accustomed and less sensitive to the scent. Basically, you can end up reeking badly. The other argument for this is well stated by BTP:

Some colognes are appropriate for different occasions, like going to work or out at night. It is up to the wearer, but some musky, come-hither scents are better left for evenings and lighter, crisp scents for the day. That is a guideline more than a rule and how it was explained to me by a good salesperson so long ago.
Another good example of this would be wearing brand A aftershave to work and brand B cologne for evenings out. Each scent and type of scent can say something different about you.

School 2:

People of this school feel that you should always wear the same scent, mostly for the ladies. The thinking is that the scent helped attract that nice lady you asked out the other day, so don't change it or you risk giving up one of the qualities that turned her on to you.

Which do I subscribe to?

As you may have guessed, I'm from school 1. The D&G is great for casual wear, and I use the Prive for more formal affairs. In fact I met my last girlfriend while sportin' a suit and the Prive. And I've gotten great compliments on both scents. I like not smelling the same all the time. That's too boring for me. As for everyday use, I just use deodorant. I'm not one for aftershave, and I use the cologne sparing when I got out too. As always, a little goes a long way too. In other words, you don't want to leave a trail behind you. Use just enough to give a whif to those immediately around you.

Ok, before this thread gets derailed, I'm bringing it back on track

I once smelled a fruity, kinda gingery, candy smelling cologne once, any guesses to what it might be? I liked it alot, but have never found it, and it's not like you can ask another guy: "hey you, you smell good, what are you wearing?" (well, some can )

Fruity and candy is Jean Paul Gaultier "Le male" and it is great stuff. The bottle is sorta gay though and it costs a ton. But I use it all the time.

About $95 bucks CAN.

That is about $25 more then most, I think it is worth it as both gay men and women seem to love it. It is win win!

Word^. But, I have to add: this is a real blast from the past. It's been 25 years (I kid you not) since I was an Aramis user, and found the same shower soap approach was right on, at a time when it really MATTERED

RL Romance when I go out on weekends.
Armani Acqua Di Gio in the summer.
And I used to wear Elements by Hugo Boss until they stopped making it.

I have a strict rule about not buying any brand they sell at Walgreens or CVS. Drakkar.. thats funny. I wore that crap in 6th grade and even then it was cheap.
