You know that feeling of accomplishment when you achieve a goal that you've long sought after and worked very hard for? The type of goal that you may have once thought was going to be very difficult to achieve?
Once you achieve a goal on that level, stop and ask yourself if you're really enjoying the achievement.
I've had at least a couple of them in life so far, and I don't think I stopped to adequately smell the roses once those achievements were reached. I have two such goals strongly in mind right now, especially since I just celebrated a major birthday milestone and feel the need to pick up the pace.
Just felt like sharing that.

Some goals take a lot more effort than others. Getting a degree was much more difficult for me than getting married, but both were goals of mine.

Yes, certainly. And just to be clear, I'm not saying marriage is easy, just that I got lucky and finding the right person was very easy for me.

You were only off by a couple of decades. (See Ghoser's thread.) And I'm proud of my accomplishments, but as I said there are two major goals in particular that I'm focused on right now.

Your goal was getting to 30? Or 70? How is this "long sought after"?
This thread sucks.

How isn't it long sought after? It took 30 (or 70) years! That's a long time to accomplish a single goal.

My three right now are to get a black belt in Krav, find a girl, and hopefully get a house. Those things will take some time, as I have no life. Perhaps that can be another goal of mine.... to get a life.

I've long sought after the goal of having a life-long goal and eventually achieving it. Unfortunately, I'm no closer than when I started.

You know, I don't really have any goals. I've achieved pretty much everything I ever wanted.
One goal I guess I do have is teaching my kids both contentment and selflessness.

Big Mac, thank you for that reminder It is a source of great pleasure to contemplate all that flows from one's achievements, like increased self esteem and practical results. Just tried doing it re having met a long time goal 4 years ago. It gives me a physical feeling of walking with my chest out, pride/power, and a psychological sense of confident serenity.
Try it, the worst that can happen? Nothing.

It seems I hit several of my goals in rapid succession not too long ago, it was a little anticlimactic. I don't really have that many long term goals left. So now I've forced myself to take a decent break, ~2 years so I can enjoy, relax, and assess. Then I'm going to jump in with both feet and start working on some new ones.
OH, I was going to make a thread about this, but I guess there's no real reason. One goal, not really long term, came to fruition this week... My wife is pregnant! We officially found out Tuesday, we had four stick tests come up positive last week but it seems different when the gyno tells you to your face. After all the shit I've done, and all that I've been through, I think this scares me more than just about anything else. hahaha

My life is already changing. She has her face in the loo every morning, and between heaves she calls me terrible things.

Not sure how to stop that. Both are planning to breast feed, so I have no doubt that there's going to be more female contact than the poor thing can handle. Personally, I'm wanting it to be a girl and they want a boy. Not sure how that happened either.

They both want to try out feeding, and it will make it easier since the full burden won't rest on just one person. If they can swing it, more power to them. All evening I've heard nothing but "nursery this", "nursery that", maternity clothes, vitamins, yoga, birthing classes, NAMES, etc. etc..

Unless the other has had a kid, and already has full jugs, then it won't work out. The only time, that I've heard milk being produced is after birth.

Actually, they can, they just have to induce lactation. That only takes time and suction. Like Gaylord Focker said, "you can milk just about anything that has nipples". Even men can lactate, but that just seems.... wrong.

It's been 7 years. If he hasn't noticed by now, given how much he posts, I'm not wasting my time.
