'Red tape' delays European iTunes Music Store
Red tape is delaying the European launch of Apple's Internet music store iTunes, according to Reuters report: " A maze of licensing contracts, music release dates that differ by country and incompatible billing systems have combined to sidetrack the service, which many recording executives still hope will make its European debut in the first half of 2004. 'We will be here this year. I'm not going to announce the date at this time, but we are working very hard,' Eddy Cue, vice president of applications and Internet services for Apple, said at the annual MidemNet music conference on the French Riviera."
So please let this end all the "Apple Is Leaving Their European Users Behind" threads.

The discussion will end when:
- iPhoto prints and books are available
- iTunes Music Store is available
- Text to Speech and speech recognition is available in anything but English
- Welsh localization of the OS is available

Nasrudin sat on a river bank when someone shouted to him from the opposite side: "Hey! how do I get across?" "You are across!" Nasrudin shouted back.

The Euro 'Red Tape' is gong to be a dumb combination of EE laws regarding European free trade, (i.e. if someone is selling something for one price in one country/state and selling the same item for less in another, the company can't stop me from buying it where it is cheaper (Car companies don't like this one) ) and the Record industry who do distribution deals on a country by country basis.
This was always going to be a huge stumbling block to getting a cross EU version of the iTMS running with the same cross label choice as the US version.

There is a common misconception that Apple has any control over this one. They do not. As far as this function goes, iPhoto is nothing more than a front-end to another store. When they decide to go international, then perhaps iPhoto can.
iTunes Music Store is available
They just explained this one. Blame the lawyers, not Apple.
Text to Speech and speech recognition is available in anything but English
Apple has, unfortunately, done next to nothing with these features over the years. They're basically a holdover from OS9, kept Because They Sound Cool.
It should be noted that Spanish text-to-speech does exist. I don't know about Speech Recognition, but many moons ago -back when my dad got a 6100/60- they included English and Spanish with the machine. I don't know if it has been kept up to date or not, though.
Welsh localization of the OS is available
Was a Welsh localization available for OS9?

Don't know, but according to this article:
http://theregister.co.uk/content/4/35096.html
Windows XP is only just getting Welsh localisation. Considering that there are only about 300,000 Welsh speakers, and that the Mac has less than 3% market share, I really don't think there's much point.
Particularly considering they all speak English too.

Disregarding the books which are something special, there are dozens - probably hundreds - of photo laboratories that can make prints from digital images in Europe. Do you really think not a single one of them would have been willing to take Apple's iPhoto customers?

That was Mexican Spanish, and it did exist, but it never made it into OS X.

I don't know, but OS X is supposed to be more modern.

And I thought finnish would be hard to fit in
Oh, and they have better fix Australia at the same time as Europe seeing as I will have moved there before iTunes Music Store comes here
