In case anyone was wondering, we just did a server migration. All sites came back up right away - except the forums. Garbage display, with a bunch of ad code. Which gave a false clue, suggesting bad banner code.

It turned out to be a cache issue, but between work and upcoming vacation, I could only give it time in the evenings. And the owner was not always available at the same times.

Anyway, we were down far longer than expected, days instead of hours. I didn't even get a heads-up to post an announcement first.

Sorry for the scare.

I cannot take much credit this time. I was setting up for further tests last night - when it suddenly loaded OK. Exactly one week after the migration. Dead giveaway that it was a cache issue.

I'd switched off the memcache earlier - no change at the time. We must have missed some other cache.

@andi, I know the feeling. Check the forums - oh yeah, not working yet. Try removing another suspect option. While waiting on results, let's check the forums. Arg ...

Ticking sound coming from a .pkg package? Don't let the .bom go off! Inspect it first with Pacifist. Macworld - five mice!
