One of my friends said he once dated a girl who was taller than him.
This felt very wrong to me.

You're absolutely right. There are laws against this for good reason. If we allow men to date taller women, who knows what kind of evil will become of it.

Why not? I've gone out with lots of girls taller than me....they aren't hard to find. Besides, if it weren't OK, my dream of marrying Heidi Klum or any other supermodel would go down the drain. I'm only 5' 7" but I walk TALL, man.

I don't think it is 'wrong', but I don't think I could do it. But I probably wont ever have to worry about it since I am 6' 6".

Considering how short I am for my age most of my girlfriend have been alittle taller than me. I was with someone for a year who was a good 3 inches taller than me. It doesn't really bother me, but for once I'd like to be taller just for fun.

My current girlfriend is a couple inches shorter than me.

He's probably just afraid of heights or perhaps was bullied by a tall kid, or perhaps he's just insecure, like Zimph said.

On topic: No there is absolutely nothing wrong with dating a girl/woman who's taller than you. My soon to be wife is taller than I.

I find it hard to dig the chick if she's taller than me.
Maybe it's a male-dominance thing?
I never knew I was so sexist.

I have dated a few girls taller than me. I am 5'10". Nothing wrong with it.

My wife is a lot shorter than me though. She's only 5" (and a 1/2" she adds).

She is the shortest girl I have dated.

I don't mind dating girls who are taller, as long as their not much bigger than I am. I'm 5'7" 120lbs, so I'm sorta a small guy.

You would have to be severely insecure to have an issue like this.

I don't think there's anything wrong with it either. Being a 5' girl, the chance of ever dating any guy shorter than me is pretty slim, so I can't say I speak from experience. But I have a number of friends in girl-is-taller relationships and they seem fine.

If I may pose a tangental question to this topic: do you guys think there is such a thing as a girl who is too short? A lot of guys are over a foot taller than me, and sometimes I wonder if that's a turn-off for them. I can see where being significantly taller is nice because you get some feeling of dominance and protectiveness, but is there a point at which it becomes a negative?

Not for me, but at 5'8" (5'9" on a good day) I'm not that tall.

Guys who are 5'7" or 5'8" aren't really short.

try being 5'5".

I really have no choice but to date girls who are taller than me. Seems like girls shorter than me are only interested in guys who are 6'+.

I don't have any particular problem with it, but frankly the problem would be in finding dates. Most women prefer taller men; there have actually been studies on this, but no one knows exactly how this phenomenon works.

That said, even height in a couple can be quite problematic from a practical standpoint. With a difference of a few inches either way, the couple just plain fits together better. I don't claim to know why this is either.

Hmmm... Can't speak for the rest of the guys here but I personally don't like to date anyone much less than 5'7" (I'm 6'). I guess that's just personal preference as I know a lot of guys way taller than myself who're dating 5' girls.

For me, taller is OK as long as it's not accompanied by "beefy". Oh, and as long as she ain't afraid of being tall (i.e. hasn't got a complex about it).

I was talking to a girl about her short ex-boyfriend... she said that she would probably not date a shorter guy again for sexual reasons. The gist being that he could not take command in the way she liked when the "party started" ("" indicates sex).

I mean when you think about it a 6 foot girl with a 5' 6" must be limiting to positions and such...

There's even a magic number; the Pawlowski SDS .

Of course, averages are just that and can not be used when evaluating real-life individuals.

I don't see anything wrong with a guy dating a taller gal. As long as they both feel comfortable. I will admit that for me personally it bothers me to be around someone my height or a little taller.
